"So what do you do for a living?" Jack
asked as he dried the plates while I washed them."I translate a little." I said, trying to act nonchalant.
"Oh wow. That's amazing. So you interpret or..?"
"I just translate books or texts that they give me." I said as I handed him an another plate.
"What about you? What do you do for a living?" I asked, trying to get the topic off of me.
"Um..I write books." Jack said.
That caught my attention. "What kind of books do you write?"
"I'm actually working on a cookbook. I wanted to share my mom's recipes." Jack said, smiling.
"Your book will be amazing. Heck with the food you made today, the book will be a hit!" I said, giving him a smile.
"Thanks." Jack chuckled. "Will you come again tomorrow? You know, for dinner? I really want your opinion about the food I make and what kind of things that you think will help it taste better."
I hesitated. "I don't think I can help you much with that. I'm hardly a food expert."
"Please? I don't know anyone from here and It would mean so much to me." Jack said, giving me his puppy dog eyes again that has become a habit of his.
"Ugh. Fine. But don't blame me if I'm completely useless." I said as I rolled my eyes.
"You are the complete opposite of useless." Jack said, giving me a warm smile.
And for some reason, that made my heart beat a little bit faster.
