Part 14 "Invitation"

I knocked on Jack's door with Rick smiling gleefully behind me.

"Hey! You're early." Jack opened the door with a huge smile.

"Yeah...My annoying brother came unexpectantly and I was wondering if you wanted to have dinner with us..? We could go to the nearest restaurant in town." I said, feeling a little uneasy.

"Hi! I'm the annoying brother." Rick jumped forward.

"Nice to meet you. I'm the annoying neighbor." Jack said, shaking Rick's hand.

"So, Jack. Are you up for dinner?" Rick asked.

"Yeah. But how about you guys come over and I'll cook for you guys?"

"I don't want to be a bother. I heard that you always cook for my sis and I wanted to buy you dinner. It's the least I can do." Rick said, frowning.

"Lizzie is doing me a favor. I hate eating alone, and she is giving me tips on my cooking. It's a win-win really." Jack smiled. "I already have everything planned. You guys can just come over. See you at 6, yeah?"

Rick smiled. "Yeah. Get ready for dessert though."

"Sure. Be sure to make it chocolate flavored. It's Lizzie's favorite." Jack said.

Rick raised an eyebrow playfully. "And you said there was nothing going on."

"There isn't! Okay, quit being embarrassing. Sorry I sprung this news on you, Jack. See you later!" I said as I dragged my brother back to my place.

"Well... He seems nice." Rick stated.

I scoffed. "Yeah. He is. And you completely embarrassed me."

"Get over it. After all, I am the annoying brother right? It's kinda my job to embarrass you." Rick smirked.

"Oh shut up."

"Anyways, We have to get out. The dude is cooking for us, and we should at least bring some dessert." Rick said.

"Fine. But you will drive, right? You know how I hate taking public transportations."

"Of Course." Rick said, his playfulness disappearing.

Feeling awkward, I went into my room and quickly changed. I knew I shouldn't have brought that up.
