I stared at my reflection in the mirror.
"Ugh. You do not look cute today." I said, wrinkling my nose. My hair was a mess, my eyes were puffy with all the crying last night and it had huge bags underneath because of the nightmares.
I quickly brushed my teeth and after that, I took a long hot shower. The shower helped me with the nerves. When I finally got out of the shower, I took a glance at the clock.
"Shit!" I ran to the closet and started to dig for clothes. I only had about 30 minutes and I haven't even thought about what to wear.
I grabbed white t-shirt and jeans and quickly wore them. After that, I turned on the electric fan on full blast while I put lotion on my face. Hopefully, it will dry my hair while I do my makeup. I decided to go with a simple look. I quickly applied my favorite brown eyeshadow and applied eyeliner. And, Bam. I still had 5 minutes left.
I quickly brushed my hair. Thankfully it was half dry. Just as I was ready to get out, The doorbell rang. I shoved my pepper spray in my pocket as I opened the door.
"Hey! Ready to go?" Jack said, smiling.
"Yeah." I said, smiling back.
"Your hair is still wet though. Do you want to completely dry it before we take off? I don't want you to catch a cold." Jack said, running his hand through my hair. I had to stop myself from sighing. The touch felt that good.
"I'm sure it will dry as we go on our road trip. We don't want to be late to wherever we're going, right?" I said as I closed the door to my apartment.
"I'm turning the heater on until your hair dries." Jack chuckled as he led me to his car.
I smiled. He was just so caring. I was actually starting to think today might be fun.
"So. Where are we going?" I said as I put on my seatbelt.
"I thought you would never ask." Jack said, tutting his tongue.
"Well? Give me the verdict, Doc." I said, looking at him expectantly.
"No can do." Jack said.
I fumbled my fingers. Not knowing where we were going made me nervous as hell. Maybe I should text my mother letting her know I'm going somewhere with Jack?
"I didn't want to spill the beans till we got there, but...We are going on a picnic!" Jack said, laughing.
"A picnic?!" I said. I haven't gone on a picnic since I was really really young.
"Yup! There is a spot that I know that has a killer view. There's this restaurant that's called 'Whale's breath' and they make the best food ever. I thought we could have dinner there. And don't worry about a thing. I already told Rick what we were doing today."
I squeezed Jack's hand which was on the gear stick. Jack squeezed back, giving me a dazzling smile.
Today was just going to go fine. I knew it.
