As I was walking down to the taxi stand gloomily, there came a thumping of feet hitting the concrete floor. I became tense, and my grip on the pepper spray hardened.
I felt the person tapping my shoulder, and I slowly turned around.
"Um, Excuse me, miss?" A boy said, cheekily smiled.
I stared at him in confusion. What could he want from me?
"I think you dropped your smile." The boy said, pretending to pick up something from the floor and showing me a small heart made by his fingers.
I laughed at that. I haven't laughed like that for a long time. It honestly surprised me.
"Thanks. I have been having a hectic day today. You really made my day." I said, thanking the boy.
The boy smiled. "You should really smile more. Anyways, I hope your rest of the day goes well! Bye!"
I smiled a small smile as I watched the boy run back to his mother, who ruffled his hair affectionately.
I was in a good mood, and on my way back to my apartment, I bumped into Jack again.
"Hey, you. I was going to ask you something and you just ran off." Jack pouted.
"Oh. Sorry. What was it that you were going to ask?" I said, awkwardly.
"I was thinking..and...maybe you would like to have dinner with me? It gets lonely eating alone and I'm kind of not used to it." Jack said, scratching his neck.
"Oh umm.." I was going to decline politely, but then Jack gave me the puppy dog face.
"Sure." Came my answer. Damn it.
"Really?! That's great!!! I already thought of something to make and I really think you would love it! Come by my place at 6, Okay? See you later!" Jack blurted and with that, he started running to the park.
I stared at his back wearily. I thought we would eat outside, preferably somewhere public.
But at his house? I started to panic. Yup. I definitely had to cancel it.
