"He's not going to ask," I mumbled to Nadia.
She shrugged. "He might surprise you and ask. Besides, you said so yourself last night, he's trying to be more social and confident."
"He's still not going to ask." I sighed.
"Not with that attitude." She mumbled. "Why don't you ask him?"
"It's not that easy." I tried to explain. "This is almost a test for him. If he doesn't ask me before the day of the dance, I'll ask him then. I want to see if he has enough confidence to ask."
Nadia gave me a sly smile. "You're scared to ask him too."
I sputtered. "What? No!"
That's when she started laughing and I turned a deep shade of red. "You so are! You're just as bad as him." She stopped laughing and nudged me. "Look, there he is. Go see if he'll ask you."
I took a deep breath before I went up to him. I tapped on his locker to get his attention. He smiled at me. "Hi Y/n."
I smiled back. "Hi, Gerard. You heading to math?"
"Yeah. I don't want to, but I have to." He sighed and slammed his locker shut, a little too forcefully, making me jump slightly.
I nodded. "I understand. You want me to walk with you, so it's less unbearable for you?" I asked.
His smile widened slightly and his cheeks were dusted with a faint spray of pink. "If you'd like. You don't have to if you don't want to. I'm not forcing you to."
"I want to." I surprised the both of us by saying that.
"O-ok." He stuttered and I went for it. I took his hand gently and walked with him to math. We talked and laughed like we normally did, but he still refused to ask.
I was about to man up and just ask him, but he stopped outside of his class, ran a hand through his hair and practically screamed at me, "WILL YOU GO TO HOMECOMING WITH ME?"
I blinked in surprise before smiling. "I was waiting for you to ask me. I would love to!" I gave him a hug as he became a red, stuttering mess.
"T-thanks. I'll, I'll pick you up-p at l-like-"
"7:30," I stated.
He nodded "7:30. See you then."
"Bye Gee." I waved before heading to AP Lit.
"Bye Y/n!" He called after me.

"Is she here yet?" Nadia groaned in annoyance. She was crushing her pink, almost cotton candy like dress, but she didn't seem to care.
I rolled my eyes. "NO! She said she would be here at 7:30 and it's only 7:15." I, on the other hand, went with a sleek fit dress in the color that looks the best on me: (color).
She pouted. "Well I don't want to be late and she's going to make us late if she doesn't hurry up already! Do you think she forgot about me?"
"No, she didn't forget about you." I reminded her. "You can't blame Angelique. She's not used to these time zones." I laughed slightly despite myself. "I can't believe you convinced the French exchange student to be your girlfriend."
Nadia smiled. "She's the best though. I really do love her."
"I know." I smiled and she kissed my hand. I wiped it on a Kleenex. "Whoa man! Lipstick stains!"
She started laughing as the doorbell rang. "She's early!" She squealed, bouncing to her feet.
I got to the door first and smiled. "Bonj- Gerard?"
He gave me a lopsided smile. "You were expecting Angelique?" He looked really handsome in his black dress pants and button down.
I gave a nervous laugh. "Yeah. Nadia said she was going to take the four of us, so we can't leave till she gets here."
"Till qui arrives?" I peered behind Gerard to see the tall and stunning Angelique Lagarde in a dazzling yellow dress with silver accents. It fluttered slightly in the breeze.
"Nadia! She's here!" I called and Nadia grabbed our purses.
"Let's go." She kissed Angelique on the lips before taking her keys out and unlocking the car.
They sat in the front and Gerard and I sat in the back. I took my chance again and we held hands the whole ride. When we arrived, we were two minutes late. We gave them our tickets and entered the gym. It was all decked out with fake buildings on the walls and superhero logos everywhere since that was the theme.
The DJ was currently playing an upbeat, fast song, so naturally, Nadia dragged Angelique out to dance with her. Gerard and I just laughed as we hung around near the back.
"I'm so glad you asked me," I said absentmindedly.
"You are?" He questioned, sounding surprised.
I looked puzzled. "Yeah. I've been waiting to see when you'd finally gain enough courage to ask. You're a great guy Gee, and I hate seeing you stick to the sidelines because you don't think that."
He looked down almost ashamed. "I guess."
I rolled my eyes and forced his chin up so he could look me in the eyes. "Gerard Arthur Way! You are the best guy I've ever met! I can't BELIEVE you don't see that in yourself! You have all these great friends who think you're REALLY talented and cool. You will never not matter to any of us. We love you; I love you." I clamped my mouth shut after I said that.
His expression turned to confusion, "You, you love me?" I nodded slowly. "Platonically?" I shook my head slowly. "Oh."
I took a deep breath before letting it all out. "So what if I love you? So what if the reason why I was waiting for you to ask me was that I was dying for you to confess your feelings for me? So what if I want to be yours? So what? I don't care if you don't feel the same way; I understand. I come on too strong and I'm so obnoxious. But I love you Gerard and nothing's going to change that." To seal the deal, I kissed him. Not hard, but not so soft. One that held all my love for him.
Surprisingly though, he kissed back with the same intensity. It wasn't lustful, it was just passionate and sweet and sincere. I loved every second of it and wouldn't have traded my first kiss for any other.
But it was over all too soon. As he pulled back he sighed, "Wow. I can't believe you were my first kiss."
I chuckled. "You were my first kiss too." I paused before adding. "So, boyfriend?"
He nodded vigorously. "Oh yeah. Definitely boyfriend."
I kissed his cheek, leaving some lipstick residue. "Perfect."
