(LISTEN TO IRIS GOO GOO DOLLS WHILE READING)

Unluckily for me, Gray didn't find out where Kyla was, I knew I had to find her before she left. I didn't think she'd fly back to England without saying a word, without a goodbye. I thought she'd care enough to do that.

I tried calling her again.
She picked up finally.

Kyla's POV
Ethan called me once again, I was already nearly at the airport so I figured I may aswell pick up. Saying goodbye over the phone wasn't the best way to leave but it's all I could manage right now. Saying goodbye to him, face to face, would destroy me.

"Kyla, thank god. Where are you?!"
"Are you driving right now?"
"Yeah, looking for you!"
"On the phone..."
"Don't worry about me! Please just tell me where you are..."
"Near the airport ish."
"How are you not there yet?"
"I saw the Hollywood sign first."
"You walked?!" he shouted down the phone.
"Yeah..."
"Well now I know which route you took".
"I took whichever route Google told me to" I laughed.
"Kyla, it's 10:30PM, please just come back."
"Ethan, there's no point in coming to get me. I'm going back home."
"You can't... I need you right now. Gray needs you right now."
"And what about me?! What about what I need? What about my happiness, E?!"
"I can make you happy, that's all I've ever tried to do! Protect you and make you happy!"
"Ethan" I sighed... "I'm not coming back."
"Why?!"
"Because of everything I've done! Not even you can protect me from that."
"I'm trying! I've got you. I've told you that from the beginning... No matter what, I've got you babygirl." When he called me that, I couldn't help but well up. Tears streamed down my cheeks and I felt, whatever was left of my heart, tear itself to shreds.
"I'm sorry, Ethan..."

Ethan's POV
She may have hung up but I still refused to let her leave. I wasn't going to lose her this way, I still had to ask her if she loved me. She's the only person I'd ever actually been in love with, I wasn't prepared to let that go. I knew I could make her happy, the way Gray did. I could protect her and make sure she knew she was loved every single day. I just needed her...

Swerving around street corners, I must have been close to crashing at least 6 times. Maybe this girl really would be the death of me in the end. I Googled the next flight to England, 11:25PM.

Shit.

As I came speeding towards another turn, I looked up from my phone and saw someone walking infront of my truck. It wasn't until I were a few feet away from hitting them that I recognised who they were.

"KYLA, FUCK!"

I quickly swerved to avoid hitting her, the last thing I saw was the look on her face before everything switched off.

Kyla's POV
A car came speeding towards me, no.. not a car. A truck. Tires screeched as the driver desperately tried to swerve away from me. That's when I recognised it, Ethan's truck. My heart pounded in my chest and time stopped as the front of his truck smashed into a tree at the side of the road.

Everything after that seemed to happen in slow motion.

Dropping my suitcase, I ran towards his truck and tried yanking the door open. I couldn't, I wasn't strong enough, the door seemed to have jammed itself. Looking inside, I saw Ethan laid on the steering wheel. He didn't seem hurt, but I couldn't really see anything through the smoke. Running around to the passengers side, I smashed the window with a rock I'd found on the floor and tried to climb inside carefully.

"Fuck!" I grabbed my thigh and looked at the blood on my hand. The glass slicing through my leg was the least of my concern right now. I lifted Ethan's head from the steering wheel and looked at his face. He'd hit his head pretty hard, his eyebrow was split open slightly. His black eye puffed up once more and his hair was a complete mess.

"Ethan?! Ethan, are you okay?" He didn't reply.
"Ethan?!" The front of his truck was destroyed. Suddenly, black smoke began pouring out of the bonnet.
"Shit. Ethan, wake the fuck up!" He still didn't move. Unbuckling his seat belt, I checked his breathing. Shallow, almost like he was asleep. The passenger door wouldn't open, I kicked it a few times as hard as I could until it swung open. I grabbed his arm and used all of my strength to pull and slide him out of his smoking truck. Normally it was him helping me out of the truck, ironic. He fell to the pavement, I wrapped his arm around my shoulder and tried supporting him whilst trying to pull him away from the truck which was now consumed by black smoke.

It was only a matter of seconds before the whole thing went up in flames.

"Ethan, Ethan please wake up!" I collapsed to the floor just a few meters away from the truck, tears in my eyes. I couldn't pull him anymore, I didn't have the strength to. I knew he was alive, but seeing him like this, because of me, was too much. It drained me. I held his face close to mine and stroked his hair.

"Ethan, I know you can hear me... Cmon baby, wake up." A tear fell onto his cheek. I kissed him, leant my forehead on his and whispered "Ethan, I need you right now, cmon."

The radiator under the bonnet burst, steam screamed out of the truck, just like an old kettle, along with small flames.
"I'm coming! Hold on." A voice shouted from behind me.

I looked away from Ethan and up at the stranger running towards the both of us, I recognised them immediately.
