Chapter 18...
Luke and I stood on the side of the pool after our warm ups chatting, waiting for the coach to arrive.
'Morning, done your warm ups?' Coach asked as he walked in.
'Yes Sir.'
'Good. Where were you this morning?' He asked looking at Luke. Luke's eyes flicked to mine for a second, uncertain of what to say.
'He was with me!' I replied for him as if it was the most natural thing in the world. The Coach's face said it all. 'We fell asleep after talking half the night.' I smile innocently.
'But Mia said...' He continued confused.
'Oh no sir!' Luke and I both said at the same time.
'Well whatever, as long as you're swimming is up to scratch I don't care what you two get up to in your spare time.' He sighed shaking his head with a chuckle.
'Morning!' Mia voice rang into the room. She said it to everyone but was looking directly at Luke as she walked in. She walked right up to him, stepping in between us, knocking into me as she did. I took a balancing step back onto nothing but air and fall arse first into the pool.
'What the hell was that?' Coach yelled at me when I resurfaced.
'Sorry Coach was just a bit over eager to get going.' I grinned back at Mia.
'Well from the sound of that dive you're going to need a lot more practice.' He frowned.
'No sir just stepped off wrong.' I grinned again.
'Well you two should take a leaf out of her book. Now get moving.' He boomed. 'Not you Mia, you're late and of course you still need to warm up. Gees what the hell are they making me work with.' He growled. 'Why are you still standing there?' He screamed at Mia. Luke dived into pool and I kicked off the side to begin our laps. I could still hear the Coach grilling Mia. With a small smile of satisfaction I pulled myself through water, hyper aware of my Luke's gorgeous body alongside mine.
Thirty minutes later the whistle blew and Luke and I pulled up to the side of the pool. Luke hopped out before me and gave me a hand practically picking my up out the pool making me giggle as Mia glared at me.
'Right Miss Cameron, I want you and Mia to have a time race I want to see what Mia can do.'
'Yes Coach. What Style we swimming?'
'Free style to start.'
'But I'm butterfly swimmer.' Mia objected immediately.
'And I'm a Coach what is your point? I am fully aware of what you can do Mia, but I want to start with freestyle. It's the first style you are taught, if you can't even swim free style then I don't want you in my pool.' Coach snapped back at her. 'Now get in position.'
'But..'
'Oh my god Mia shut it.' I whispered grabbing her by the arm and pulling her to the starting blocks.
'No!' She screamed, ripping her arm away from me. 'It's clear the favouritism here, I don't see you making her swim Butterfly.'
The Coach's face burned bright red as he sucked in a deep breath trying to calm himself down, Mia stared back completely oblivious to this fact. I took a cautious step away from her as I looked over at Luke with a deep sense of dread building up inside me. He was shaking his head and threw his hands up in the air.
