Chapter 20...
Luke lead me out to the front parking lot and up to a massive black Jeep Wrangler. I stopped about a metre from the door and looked down at what I was wearing. Great totally inappropriate. Luke walked the rest of the way and opened the passenger door for me, without breaking stride, he swung around picked me up and put me down in the seat. I sat shock still in the chair as he closed the door and jogged around to the driver's side.
He leaned over and stopped two centimetres from my lips.
'You look so beautiful.' He whispered seriously, staring straight into my eyes.
'Thank you.' I replied shyly
He reached over me and strapped me in before kissing me tenderly and starting up the engine.
'Where are we going?'
'Surprise.'
'Give me a hint.' I pleaded leaning over and grabbing his arm as he drove.
'You're going to want to hold on tight, it's going to be a bumpy ride.' He laughed.
'What?' I frowned.
He turned off the main road onto a dirt road, which started off pretty smooth but at the end I was bouncing clean out of my seat and would have been thrown clean across the vehicle had it not been for my seat belt.
'Sorry about this but it's the only way to get there.' Luke shouted over the roar of the engine.
After another twenty minutes of been bounced about we turned onto an even narrower dirt road which smoothed out as we descended deeper into the woods. I rested my pounding head back on the head rest and closed my eyes as my heart rate began to slow again.
I glanced over to Luke who had a determined look on his face as he drove along manoeuvring the vehicle to avoid the larger ditches. He wore a smart dress shirt which pulled lightly across his chest, and black trousers. I could see he had done something with his hair but the constant jostle from the Jeep had messed it up. Sensing my stare his eyes locked on mine and a small smile broke on his lips.
'You ok there?'
'Yea I'm good.' I said returning his smile.
'We're almost then just around that bend.' He squeezed my leg reassuringly as we came up to the bend. I held my breath in anticipation as we came to a stop in a strange little clearing. I looked around to see where we were but aside from about ten other cars parked there, there was nothing to see. I felt my face beginning to drop and looked over to see Luke looking back at me gauging my reaction. Immediately I refreshed my smile and tried to look happy. With a smirk Luke jumped out of the Jeep and came around to help me out.
We walked along a narrow wooden walkway, well more like a line of MDF thrown over the mud but whatever, and joined up with a small group of people waiting to one side of the clearing, surrounding a sign that said 'Wait here'. Looking around I noticed that most of the women and a few of the men didn't look overly impressed as they stood around waiting.
I leaned back into Luke who wrapped his arms around me tightly and kissed down into my neck.
'Where are we?' I said.
'Just a few more minutes' baby and you will see, I promise.' Rolling my eyes in slight disappointment I rested my head back and sighed.
'Fine.' I heard him chuckle lightly behind me but ignored him.
Two minutes later another car pulled up and most of the people in the group turned to see. A petite blonde women flung herself out of the land rover and slammed the door dramatically behind her before marching off back in the direction they had just driven up. A young man jumped out after her and chased after her.
