Name: Private Lukas Ryan
Age: 20
Location: Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan
Occupation: Army Private First Class; on active duty doing NCR&R (Nonchargeable Rest and Recuperation).
Personality: Courage is Lukas' middle name (that's a lie, it's actually Lee). He dives into danger head first to the point that it's alarming the risks he's willing to take for the welfare of others. He appears to be fearless on the outside and doesn't usually get cowed by doubt or failure. Not that he hasn't felt them before, rather his heart and intuition outweigh them every time. He cares immensely for the well-being of others and he'd like to think that if two people he loved were both in a theoretically burning building where he could only save one, he would theoretically say, "screw the fire" and attempt to save them both anyway. That being said, while his courage is admirable, it doesn't always mean smart. He has a tendency of flying too close to the sun and one of these days his wings are bound to fall off.
Appearance: Sporting the typical crew cut, Lukas is probably everything one would expect from a young man in the service. He has an above average build that isn't the most impressive but still capable of carrying twice his weight, and his height isn't anything special at just under six feet. But that isn't to say he blends in the crowd too easily. His steel blue eyes are quite the marvel in the sunlight and the dimple on his chin can separate him from average Joes. Not to mention the dark blonde hair that's been slowly browning over the recent years and is sure to be brunette within the next ten years.
Backstory: Raised in Detroit, Michigan, Lukas comes from what he would consider a happy home. He comes from a middle class family with one sister and two mothers—one of which is a police officer, while the other is a forensic analyst. He tells people bravery runs in the family and he wouldn't hesitate to call his parents his heroes. His relationship with them throughout his childhood remained close and it only made them that much more reluctant to sign off on his enlistment when he was seventeen. But through some puppy dog eyes, and serious discussions, they signed away their little boy scout to the U.S. Army where he served his first year-long tour in Kuwait. While deployed, he picked up writing as a way to help cope with the slower days and the days he'd rather not think about. He's currently on an eighteen month extended tour in Afghanistan and writing a military science novel he hopes to do something with someday. He knows it's a bit far-fetched but without ambition there is no reach.
Biggest Fears: He fears helplessness. The idea of being in a situation where there's someone's suffering or things are going against his values and he can't do anything about it is a thought that terrifies him.
Other: His favorite movie is indeed, Saving Private Ryan. Don't worry, he laughs about the name too.
