I sat there in shock.

What?

What!

All around me was chaos. Janessa was doing her little happy dance around the room, Ariel was practically bouncing off of the walls, Mattie was dramatically acting out how she was going to react when she saw Liam, and Meredith was running around with her arms over her head, screaming like a lunatic.

We were going to see One Direction.

I let it soak in. It seemed so surreal. As I continued to watch everyone freak out, I kept saying it in my head. There more I said it, the more unreal it sounded. But it was true. A couple of minutes ago, Meredith had thrown the tickets in the air as she jumped around merrily; I had picked them up and was now looking at them. We were going to see One Direction.

Holy Mother of all things holy.

We were going to see One Direction!

I jumped up from the couch, letting everything that was on my lap fall to the ground. As I clutched the five tickets in my hands, I ran over to Meredith and started screaming with her.

"MEREDITH WE ARE GOING TO SEE ONE DIRECTION IN CONCERT! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!" I grabbed her hands and we danced together. I heard the music get louder and noticed Ryan come over and dance with Janessa. We danced and danced until we could barely breathe, when Meredith got the look in her eyes. She had a good idea.

She put her hand on my shoulder and shushed us all. We calmed down and looked intently at her. She said nothing for a while, and then she took a deep breath.

"IN BETWEENER'S DANCE- GO!" We knew what that meant. We all put our hands together and did the dance that we had all studies ages ago.

We giggled as we continued the dance for the rest of the song. About thirty seconds in, Ryan had gotten the hang of the dance and did it with us. Then, the song ended and we paused, listening intently for what the next one was.

An all too familiar beat filled our ears; we recognized it instantly and started bobbing our heads together as the rhythm picked up.

"It feels like we've been livin' in fast forward, another moment passing by.

The party’s ending but it’s now or never, nobody's going home tonight."

As soon as Harry starting singing, Janessa shrieked shrilly. She had the BIGGEST crush on Harry.

We all raised our hands and started jumping around in a little circle. We screamed with laughter as we ran into each other and tripped. When the chorus came, we could break off into our own dance, but when a boy's solo came, we would go back to our jumping circle.

Sadly, the song ended. We waited a moment for the next song as we breathed heavily, but it didn't come. I looked over to the CD player and saw my mom. She was leaning against the wall with the cord in her hand. She smiled at us as we flopped down on the ground, exhausted.

"I never got to say Happy Birthday, Amelia." I got up from the floor and went over to her. I wrapped her in a hug. "It seemed like yesterday we were in America and you were a little baby. But now you're eighteen and you're going to be leaving soon. I know you said that you weren't going to college-"

"Yeah, because we can't afford it!" I interrupted her. Mom placed her hand on my shoulder and raised her eyebrows. I muttered an apology and let her continue.

"I know you said you weren't going to college, but even since you were a little girl I have been saving up a bit of my pay checks for you to go off and do whatever you want. I had hoped that you would go off the college, but I think that you know what is best for you-" I interrupted her again, but this time with a hug and a shriek. She laughed and hugged me back. I stayed in her arms as I thought about my future. I was going to leave home soon, and mom would be alone with Ryan to take care of.
