I stood there, just staring at the pantry.

Was this pathetic of me? Maybe. But whatever- I like food. It wasn't on my list of dreams to become a chef or anything, but I guess it would be cool. But first, I would have to get some actual talent when it came to cooking; I could burn water.

I leaned against the door frame and rested my head on the wall. How could this be real? I was living in an amazing apartment with my four best friends, two of which hadn't arrived yet.

I looked around at the peaceful kitchen and tried my best to remember what it looked like now before we completely destroyed it with our first meal. I sighed and walked back into the living room, where Meredith was on the floor and Ariel was sprawled on the coffee table, both still asleep. I walked over to them and paused, wondering if I should be nice and let them sleep, or get pay back and wake them up. I decided the latter and walked over to the TV. Once I found the remote, I switched it on and the room was filled with sweet music from the classical music channel. I flipped through the guide and found what it said was the "Greatest Hits From the 80's", and I chose it in the hope that it was REALLY loud. The music came blasting through the speakers and Meredith and Ariel jumped up immediately in a panic.

"Oh my God!" Ariel screamed, covering her ears with her hands.

"YOU KILLER OF GOOD DREAMS!" Meredith proclaimed and glared at me.

I slyly placed the remote on the table and backed away. I could see in Meredith's eyes that she wasn't going to let me get away with that very easily. As I predicted, she ran at me with Ariel in tow.

I squealed and sprinted into the kitchen where I grabbed the nearest thing- a whisk. I waved it in front of them as tried to keep my face straight while a smile was teasing on my lips. Meredith fell to the floor and bowed in front of me.

"Oh great one! Oh bearer of Whisks! Forgive us! Purge us of our sins! We know not what we have done!" Meredith spoke in a deep, mocking tone as she continued to huddle on the floor. Ariel laughed and fell to the floor also, mumbling random words to sound like the chant from Finding Nemo.

I grinned as I looked down at them and waved the whisk around like it was a scepter and I was their Queen. This only continued for a couple more seconds until there was the sound of keys jingling in the lock. We all froze and turned towards the front door, waiting.

Slowly, the door is pushed open and I hear the shuffle of feet moving inside along with the creaks of luggage carts. I moved slightly to the left to try and sneak a peek at who is coming in, and all I needed to see before I started run forward was a streak of brown hair.

I sneak up behind Janessa and apologize to her telepathically for what I am about to do.

"FISH FINGERS AND CUSTARD!" I scream into her ear suddenly as she jumps forward. Janessa leans against the cart as she tries to calm down with her hand placed on her heart; she was definitely the calmest one out of us all, with Mattie in second. Janessa was the one who everyone went to when we had problem, whether they were social or educational. She was smart, pretty, nice and fun- any boy would be lucky to have her, but she never accepted dates. She wasn't picky; we've asked her many times why she declines, and she says she's just waiting for the right boy to come and sweep her off her feet. Janessa is what you could call a Hopeless Romantic.

I looked over at her now and I wasn't surprised to see that she wasn't mad. She was actually trying the hold down a laugh herself. She knows that we all love her, but she also knows that she is to one we all love to prank.

I lean against the wall opposite Janessa and slide down, still winded from all the laughing. Then, Mattie walks in with what I presume to be the last of our luggage and places them proudly on the floor. I see her look around for the others and her eyes land on me, then Janessa. I lazily wave to her and raise the whisk that was still in my other hand and wave it around.
