Mark's POV

Cold water splattered against my body. I held my head in my hands, with my warm tears fading in the chilling gush of water. I wish it was raining, I thought, but instead it was my shower. That's the thing about rain, the sky is literally spitting at you but you still feel good. And I needed to feel better after what happened today, again.

It all happened right in front of me. She was laughing and screaming as I get up to her, with a little trace of worry in my eyes. And then that little glitch, which took away Jean's life. I was wrong, I should've stopped at least I should have been with her.

The ropes carrying the cars started to give up, they were breaking apart. All the passengers were wide-eyed with fear from their unknown fate. Jean's eyes were showing alarm and fear but she couldn't manage to even utter a word.

"What's happening?" I asked, holding the collar of the ride operator, who was going crazy over the controls.

"I am trying." he answered, his voice breaking and I let him go. He had blonde hair and it seemed as if he was himself afraid for some reason. An older guy, in the park's worker t-shirt, came over and replaced the blonde guy over the control board. The ropes carried four cars in all, the one returning in a direction was Jean's. Only two person per car, but still somehow the ropes couldn't hold them up.

He walked over to the small audience, which had somehow notice the coming danger, and said aloud "We've got situations like this before but nobody's ever got hurt and neither this time. There is another pair of rope which will hold on to the cars until we get them down." I was standing really close so I could hear him when he turned and said in a hushed voice to the blonde guy "Why did you let so many people in that ride?"

I glanced back at the ride, relieve crossed over the faces of the people as another man announce the same information over a megaphone. Jeanette was smiling now, a stressed one but a real one. I glanced at my watch, it was about 7:17 P.M., close to the time when her death happened in my dream. I shook my thoughts off and turned to the man calming the crowd.

"Can you quickly get them back on the ground?" I asked to the blonde guy whose collar I held few minutes before.

He nodded and went over to the control board, me following to get a little closer to the ride. A couple got off from their car in front of us, both of them thankful to be still alive. Two other cars were empty now, whose passengers got off on the other end. It was Jean's turn now to get off.

Jean's car was not far off so I could easily make out was what was happening inside it. I noticed the little girl sitting next to Jean who was panicking and had her hands wrapped around Jean's waist. Jeanette patted on her head and whispered something to her, that made her laugh. The little girl moved her hand in the air to me, which almost same like a wave, so I waved my hand back to her.

I was smiling at them when I heard a sharp snapping noise. The other pair of rope was also breaking. But how could that be possible?

"No no no get them down now." I yelled.
"I am trying." the man repeated.
"Stephanie no don't move." the blonde man screamed, who stood next to me.
