Chapter 4...
"Oh my god Julia, I can't believe you betrayed Jack by sitting next to someone else in chemistry" Emily teased as I drove the car to the bakery.
"I swear I saved him a place, but someone took it and wouldn't get up" I said looking at Emily through the rear view mirror,
"And you won't believe who the person was!" Jack exclaimed, shifting his body so he could get a clearer view of Emily and Sophia, since he was in the passenger seat. "Ryder. Do you hear me? Ryder" he said with disgust in his voice making me cringe.
They both gasped, their eyes widening.
"What the hell Julia?" Sophia exclaimed looking at me with wide eyes.
I slammed on the brakes as we reached the bakery. "YOU THINK I WANTED HIM TO SIT NEXT TO ME? HAA.... DO YOU?" I shouted. "Do you actually think I want to sit next to the boy who has a reputation? And not just any reputation. A reputation of being a murderer and a drug dealer." I said more calmly than before.
Emily put her hand on my shoulder, "No, but-"
"But what?" I said cutting her off. "You should have seen my face when I saw him and not Jack. I was scared shitless. I couldn't speak or even move to another desk" I said looking at all of their faces.
I took a deep breath and ran my fingers through the strands of hair that fell out of my braid and placed them behind my ears, "I'm gonna ask Mr. Boyle if I can change partners. I'll do whatever it takes to change partners" I said pulling the car keys out of the ignition.
None of them said a word, which made me open the door and step out.
"Hey honey" my mom greeted me with a hug when I entered the bakery.
"Hi mom" I said hugging her back tightly.
"Hi Mrs. Robinson" Jack, Sophia, and Emily said in unison.
"Ohh, hi guys" my mom said as she hugged the three of them together. "So how was your first day of school?" she asked with an excited yet concerned look on her face.
I shrugged, "Umm, it was pretty good actually" I said nodding my head as I spoke, trying my best not to show i was screaming my head off ten seconds ago.
"Yeah it was better than I expected" Emily said with a smile.
"Mhmmm" Jack and Sophia agreed.
My mother looked around the four of us with her eyes, searching for something. "Where's Blake?" she asked with a surprised tone.
"With some friends, they went to grab some pizza" Jack said, smiling at the word pizza.
"Ohh okay" My mother said a bit relieved. "Don't you guys want to go anywhere? To the mall? Bowling?" she asked.
"Umm, I came to help you mom, they just came by to drop me off and say hi" I explained clearly.
"Stop being silly Julia, go to the mall or something, we have plenty of hands working today" My mom said with a warm smile.
"Are you sure mom?" I asked.
"Positive. Now go have some fun" She said.
I looked at my friends who had smile and their faces.
"Why not" I said to my mom with a grin on my face.
I kissed my mother on the cheek and was heading to the door.
"Ohh, Julia" My mother said, "here's some money" she said as she handed me her credit card.
I looked at her with wide eyes.
