Night before Founders Day
"Elena. Can I ask you something?"
"Yeah. You know you can ask me anything."
I looked at him and he looked nervous, like he was going to ask something that would change my life.
"Never mind. It was a stupid idea."
"Stefan, you know you can ask me anything so do it. You know I will always love you."
"I know it's a little early and you haven't even graduated yet but..." he went over to his dresser and picked up a small gold ring that looked like his. He was.......
"I will always love you and would like to ask you for your hand in marriage."
"Yes." was all I could say. I was speechless. He slid the ring on to my finger and I kissed him, causing him to fall back on the bed. We would have to keep it secret but it was worth it.
Present Day, Four Hours Ago
I was right. It was Caroline but she was working with Tyler. They were trying to run Stefan out of town. I had to get up at five in the morning so I can go to Mrs.Livingston's house to get ready for the parade. I knew Caroline was going to be there because she was chosen to be the spirit of fidelity. The spirit of independence, Jason, was going to be there but he was there earlier.
Present Time
I glanced over towards Stefan and saw him standing with Bonnie and Meredith, Meredith looking ready for anything. He looked at me with a reassuring look but I knew he was worried. Jason's reading went by quickly and Caroline's came too quickly.
"I was going to read from this," she said gesturing to the book," but why read from this when I can read something that will explain a lot of things that have been going on lately."
She opened her bag and pulled out a small blue book. Wait, that looks more green than blue. Maybe the lights are messing with my eyes but the look on Caroline's face. She turned the book over in her hands. She stormed off stage and tried to hit me on the way out. I picked up what she tried to hit me with and saw it was a green diary. It was Caroline's diary. I looked across the shocked crowd and saw Damon standing, no, lounging against the back wall with a smirk on his face. He switched the diaries. After the mayor tried calming the crowd down I read my piece. No one was paying attention and soon enough I was done. I walked over to where Damon was lounging and he looked pleased with himself.
"Why?" I asked.
"I think you should be asking how."
"Hello Damon," someone said from behind. It was Robert. I turned to see Judith, Robert and Margaret coming our way.
"Elena you did very good. Damon, why don't you join us for dinner?"
He was influencing her to get to me.
"Stop." I told him.
"Elena what are you talking about?"
"Stop! I know what you are doing."
"Elena Rose Gilbert. That is no way you talk to a guest" Judith said.
"You're not my mother."
"Elena if this is how that boy is influencing you to act then I forbid you to see him."
"That boy?"
"Yes that boy.
"That boy has a name. Stefan Salvatore and we are engaged."
"You will do no such thing."
I looked at them and walked towards the parking lot. I saw Matt and asked him if I could borrow his car.
"Yeah, are you okay."
"Yeah I just need to get out of here. If you see Stefan can you tell him to meet me at the boarding house."
"Yeah."
I got in his car and drove away from all my problems.
