Chapter 58
Harry and I walked down to the nursery, smiling down at our daughter.
"We've come up with a name." Harry told one of the nurses. We walked over and filled out the sheet. I watched as Harry neatly wrote: Styles, Cassidy Anne.
I smiled, and the nurse clapped, and laughed. The small beautiful baby girl started crying from where she was sleeping, and the nurse picked her up, and I gladly took her. She immediately stopped crying once she was put in my arms, and I teared up a little bit.
"She likes you." Harry smiled, and came around to my other side from behind me, putting his hand around my shoulder as we stared down at her.
"Hi baby Cassidy." I whispered, and kissed her forehead. I heard Harry sniffle, and I turned around to see him wiping his nose.
"Are you crying?" I asked.
"No." he lied.
"Yes you are. Why are you crying?" I asked.
"She's just... beautiful." He nodded, pursing his lips. "Like her mother." He added, and I looked in his glassy eyes. I was about to say something when the door swung open, and in came Harry's four friends.
"Aw, she's beautiful." One of them said, putting his hand on my shoulder the way Harry had.
"Louis..." Harry started to object as I moved from under his hand. He nodded, and dropped his arm back to his side, looking upset.
"She's gorgeous," the one with the long eyelashes and dark hair observed.
"What's her name?" The blonde one asked.
"Cassidy." I answered, and they all looked at Harry.
"Cassidy Anne Styles." I added, and they all gave Harry even weirder looks.
"May I hold her?" The one who hadn't spoke yet asked.
"Liam I-"
"Please?" He begged, cutting Harry off. I looked at Harry, and he waited for me to say something.
"You can trust them." Harry nodded. I slowly handed her over to the one who asked, Liam I think, and relaxed my arms.
"You'll make a great mother." Harry smiled approvingly at me, and wrapped his arm around my waist. I pulled away, and gave him a look as he blushed.
"Sorry, I guess I'm just used to doing that." He chuckled.
"Why would you be used to doing that?" I asked.
"Oh... um well I-" He stopped talking as the boys put Cassidy back down to sleep and Alex walked in.
"Hey." He greeted, getting a response from no one.
"Why can't you guys be friendlier?" I asked, walking over to Alex.
"Do you have a name?" He asked.
"Cassidy Anne." I nodded.
"Cassidy Anne...?"
"Styles." Harry butted in, and plastered the fakest smile across his face I had ever seen.
"I see." Alex nodded.
"Don't freak out, it's only the baby, it's not like I'm taking his name." I assured Alex, and Harry clenched his fists, and scrunched his mouth up. The other boys walked over to him, and quietly whispered things to him, as I just watched.
"I'm going to have to ask you to leave, there are too many people in this room." A nurse said.
"Sure." Alex smiled.
"Gladly." Harry muttered, and pushed past everyone, so he was the first out the door.
"What the hell is your problem?" I asked after we weren't in the nursery anymore.
"You know what?" Harry almost laughed. "I can't do this anymore, I can't take it."
"What are you talking about?" I asked.
"I miss you, Ariana!"
"What?"
"Harry..." his friends warned.
"Let me speak." He silenced them. "Ariana we had been together for-"
"Harry, stop!" The blonde one yelled.
"Shut up Niall!"
"Harry, you'll only make things worse!"
"I said, shut up, Niall!"
"What the fuck is going on?!" I yelled.
"What's going on, is that I love you, Ariana." Harry said, and a tear rolled down his cheek.
"You what?" I gasped.
"Harry!" Another one of his friends yelled.
"Don't talk to me right now, Lou!" Harry scolded back at him.
"Ignore him, Ariana." Alex suggested.
"Harry what the hell are you-"
"Ariana, we've been dating for a long time. We tell each other we love each other every day, at least we did, up until this accident. I told myself I couldn't imagine my life without you, and here I am, without you, but I'm not imagining. I don't want to live another day without you and-"
"Harold!" Uncle Paul's voice yelled. He ran over with three other doctors, all who started slowly talking to Harry, but quiet enough so I couldn't hear them.
"Ariana, please believe me." Harry cried, as they started to pull him away from me, and his friends followed.
"Harry-" I started.
"Please." He cut me off. "I promise I'm telling the truth." He whimpered, slipping a small object into my hand before he was carried away further.
"I promise." He repeated. I replayed his words over and over again in my head.
I promise.
I then looked down at the small ring in my hand, and gasped. Alex looked at it to, and was alert, but confused. I ignored him, and replayed Harry's words over and over again.
I promise. I promise. I promise.
The ring was dotted all the way around with small diamonds, and I felt a tear drip down my cheek.
I promise.
And a billion memories flashed before my eyes.
