Chapter 9

I went to bed that night, thinking about Harry and Alex. I saw that the time was 1:17am, and I was still wide awake. Why couldn't I sleep? I have been tossing and turning all night long. I finally decided to get up. I walked down the hall, and took a little right, standing in front of his door. Should I knock? Yes. No. Yes? No? Before I could officially decide, I knocked, quietly. It took a few seconds and I was about to leave when the door swung open, his lazy eyes looking down at me.

"Ariana?" Harry asked, rubbing the sleep away from his green eyes.

"I... I'm sorry I woke you up. Never mind, I'll go back to sleep." I said, starting to walk away but he grabbed my arm.

"No, what's wrong?" Harry asked.

"Um. I can't sleep." I said.

"That's why you woke me up?" He asked, stifling out a little laugh.

"Well I... never mind." I said.

"No, it's fine. Come in." He suggested, motioning for me to go into his room. I stepped inside cautiously, and he told me to go sit down on his bed, so I did.

"Why can't you sleep?" He asked.

"I don't know. Alex." I admitted.

"Well, try not to think about him." He said, walking over to me and sitting down next to me.

"It's too hard not to." I said, trying to hold the tears back.

"It's okay to cry." He said, putting a hand on my knee. At his words, I just let it all out. I started crying and I leaned in on Harry's shoulder.

"Shh, it'll be okay." He whispered, running his fingers through my hair.

"Don't lie to me." I slightly laughed.

"I'm not lying!" He smiled and I looked up at him, our smiles slowly fading.

"Harry?" I asked.

"Yeah?"

"Um... did you almost kiss me? In the car that day?" I flatly asked.

"Uh; yes. Yeah I- I'm sorry, I don't know what I was thinking." He said, removing his hand from my knee.

"It's okay. I'm sorry I freaked out. I guess I was just... caught up in the moment?" I laughed, putting my hand on his knee.

"Do you like Alex?" He asked.

"No. I used to." I said.

"You're still afraid of him though, aren't you?"

"Yes. I don't know what's gonna happen." I said.

"Well, like I told you. I'll be here." He said, tucking a piece of hair behind my ear. I blushed and looked down. He put his fingers under my chin, and tilted my head up. Before I knew it, our lips were connected. It sent chills down my spine, the way he kissed me. I had never felt this way with Alex. I ran my fingers through his hair and he bit my lip slightly. It lasted almost 15 seconds before I pulled away.

"I um... I should get back to bed." I said.

"You sure?" He smiled.

"Yeah." I giggled and walked out.

"I told you I just needed to get closer to you." He laughed, shutting his door.

I walked back in my room, just as the window to my bedroom shut. Who was that? I looked out the window but it was too dark to see anything. I looked on my bed, and there was a letter, written in neat cursive, my first name. That's all it said though, no address, stamp, nothing. I slowly teared it open, the sleep in my eyes killing me. I read the letter quickly.
