Chapter 79

"What do you mean he never went to jail?!" Harry asked, and stepped over the pile of shattered glass to where Paul was standing. I instantly bent over to clean up the mess, but I cut myself by accident and Harry pulled me up to my feet.

"He never even got arrested, the whole thing was a lie." Uncle Paul caught his breath.

"So then why would you tell us that he did get fucking arrested?" Harry asked.

"I was just going along with what Louis had said, he was the one who told you." Paul reminded us.

"Right... Louis." Harry muttered. "Why would he lie?"

"What did Lou lie about this time?" Niall rolled his eyes and stalked into the room we were in, with everyone else following behind.

"Yeah... what did I-" Louis started, but Harry cut him off.

"Alex." He clenched his jaw.

"I wanted Ariana to take her mind off of it." He admitted, and his cheeks turned red.

"Why would you lie?" I squeaked. This was not like Louis to lie.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean for this to happen. I didn't want you to get mad at me, I just thought that-"

"Yeah, well you thought wrong." Harry interrupted Louis again. "Let's go." He turned to me and dragged me out the front door before I could protest.

I was mad at Louis, but I knew he was only trying to help, and I couldn't stay mad at him forever.

"Where are we going?" I asked as we got in his car.

"Shopping." He answered, and I looked at him.

"You hate shopping." I reminded him.

"Yeah, well for some strange reason you like it so we're going."

"Where?" I asked again.

"Shopping." He repeated, obviously getting frustrated.

"No like what store?"

"I don't know." He shrugged, and pulled out of the driveway. I decided it would be best not to ask him anymore questions, so I dropped the conversation. He thought I had been hostile recently? He has.

He drove around for a while, which gave me time to think. What are we doing? I know I've asked myself that so many times, but honestly... I don't even know anymore. Here we were, in his car, about to go shopping. He hated shopping, and he was doing it for me. But shopping at a time like this? Something had to be up.

Of course I still loved him, I don't think it would ever stop loving him. But did he even still love me? He definitely hasn't been showing it recently. Although he has a good excuse: I did give him back the rings. But I only did it out of anger, and because of Cassidy. So why were we on this page of our story, or why this part? If this was a book, whatever chapter it was, I wanted to skip it.

"Do you still love me?" I asked silently before my mind could catch up with my mouth.

"Ariana... why would you even ask that?" He sighed, and looked at me quickly before glueing his eyes back to the road.

"Because you haven't been showing it recently." I repeated what I had just thought.

"Of course I still love you... I'm sorry I haven't been showing it it's just that I've been stressed." Here we go with the stressing again. If anyone should be stressed, it's me.

"Me too." I argued, but I honestly didn't want to get into a fight right now.

"I know you have, and I'm sorry I've been an ass. But when I heard what Timothy did to you..." He scrunched his mouth and pushed his tongue against the inside of his mouth.
