Chapter Seventeen: Fudge

I woke up in a warm embrace. It was tight yet gentle, as if the person holding me was fearful I would break.I opened my eyes and winced as the light shone directly in my eyes.

"Hey, she's waking up!" A male yelled and I realized it's Jackson. People rushed over to me and peered at me, checking if what he was saying is true.

"Hey, Pastel." Jason greeted me with a small smile and I tried returning the smile but I couldn't. My mouth wouldn't move because it was in too much pain.

"Don't try speaking." Mickey told and I nodded at that, or tried to. I winced in pain as I nodded and Mickey sighed.

"Don't try nodding either." She then said and I looked in her eyes, signaling I was mentally saying okay. Jackson, who was holding me, tightened his embrace on me and buried his face in my shoulder.

"I was so worried," He cried and I saw Jason rub his back soothingly.

"We found you on the floor all beaten and bruised up. It was a horrifying sight." He continued, still sobbing. So I reached up and pat his head softly, making him smile a tad bit. I'm sorry I made you cry, Jackson.

We all continued lying down, talking about some random things. Mickey left to go grab Kenzie, who apparently was with her boyfriend. Jason and Jackson made me laugh constantly and even though it hurt to laugh, I was glad they were happy enough to make stupid jokes.

Around ten minutes later, Kenzie and Mickey arrived. I frowned at their facial expressions, they looked distressed and I was scared for what they were going to say next.

"We know who's spreading the rumors,"Kenzie says and my eyes widen in shock.

"It's Alice."

******

I layed in Jackson's arms in shock. The news Kenzie and Mickey brought to me five minutes ago made me go quiet. My mind had thoughts running through it as I tried to figure out why Alice would do something like this. I thought we were friends. I thought we had connected and had such good memories. Was all of it a lie?

"I knew it was Alice." Jason speaks up and everyone's head whipped to him in shock.

"You knew and you didn't tell us!" Jackson yelled at him and Jason flinched slightly while nodding. Jackson looked away from him in disgust and disbelief. We all stared at Jason, wanting him to continue. He sighs and starts his story.

"Alice and I were tight. We were dating before I met Jackson. I did some bad shit when I was with her, stuff I'm not willing to let anyone know. We broke up on good terms and then I started dating Jackson. It was when you arrived to school that Alice started to blackmail me. She said she would reveal what I did if I didn't help her. If I didn't help her destroy you.

I did things to you that I'm not proud of. I'm the one who dragged you in the room and punched you. Thanks for that kick to the stomach, Mickey.

I started to realize how good of a person you were the more we talked. I saw you were innocent and sweet. Sweet as fudge, almost. I wish I didn't do that to you but I did and I'm sorry." He finished and we all stared in shock. Jackson got up and left, Jason chased after him. I felt tears stream down my face as I realized this was truly all Alice's fault. I guess I couldn't take it anymore because the next thing you know, I was running out of school. Out of the prison walls.
