Epilogue: Sweet

Five Years Later

I opened the front doors to the bakery with a bright, relaxed smile on my face. I placed the newly baked sweets on the counter and waited for customers arrived. My phone buzzed and I saw that it was from my mother, who was currently in Europe in search for new sweet ideas. I laughed at the picture she sent me. I sent her a quick reply and I heard the front door bell ring.

"Miss Poppins, I have mail here." The mailman, Mr.Burkes, called to me and I smiled. I grabbed a cup of coffee that was prepared just for him. I gave him the coffee and took my mail from him.

"Thank you." He said and left the bakery. I waved him goodbye and opened my mail. I saw that it was a wedding invitation to Mickey and Mason's wedding.

"It's about time." I muttered to no one in particular and placed the invitation next to Jackson's and Jason's wedding picture. I smiled at my two best friends as I remembered how happy they were that day. Then I sighed, realizing I would never be that happy since I'm destined to be a single pringle forever. I shook that thought out of my head as soon as customers started arriving.

"Welcome!"

Today was an unusually busy day and by the end of it, I was already dead tired. I laughed miserably as I realized I still had to clean up. I picked up the washcloth and started to wiping down the tables. I heard the front door ring and I rolled my eyes.

"We're closed!" I called out and I heard something drop. I turned around, confused at what was happening. What I saw brought tears to my eyes.

"Pastel.." The man muttered, staring at me as tears started falling down my face.

"Elijah." I muttered so quietly that he could barely hear it. He approached me and unlike the last time I saw him, I didn't back away. He pulled me into his arms and I clung onto him, crying my heart out as I realized how much I missed him.

"I'm so sorry." He sobbed and I hugged him even harder, tears dampening his shirt.

"It's fine, I forgive you." I cried and he took my face into his hands. He looked deep into my eyes and I stared back, seeing his beautiful eyes after five years. I smiled brightly as he leaned down, pressing his lips softly against mine. I melted into his touch and we continued staying in this wonderful position. He pulled away and gave me a kind, beautiful smile that I had thought never existed.

"You're so sweet."

It's finally over. Kind of sad that the story has come to end but I'm proud of myself for finishing it. Hope you enjoyed the story!
