DOUBLE D

This was the earliest any of Peach Creek's seniors had to be awake. At five o'clock, the bus was parked in front of the school. As the students started to arrive, the storage compartments under the vehicle were loaded with the students' baggage. Double D was the very first to show up, neatly placing his bag below and taking his seat towards the front. Classmates continues to show up to board the bus with him.

Edd waited patiently for his friends. Nazz and Kevin took their seats a few rows behind. Then Johnny and Jimmy moments later. Double D was careful to keep the seats across from him clear. By the time the bus was ready to leave, Ed and Eddy charged through the doors making as much noise as possible. Happy to see his friends, Edd stood to greet them only to be surprised when they rush by to the back of the bus.

Concerned, Double D found it off they were sitting so far away from him. He moved into the aisle and approached the two goofballs making a ruckus. "Excuse me, gentlemen, but I assumed we would all be sitting together during our transportation?"

The shortest Ed gave Double D a look of disinterest. "There's no room back here, Sockhead."

"I can see that, Eddy. That's why I took the liberty of saving two seats up front that are across from where I'll be sitting." Edd smiled and clasped his hands together politely.

"We want to sit in the back, Double D." Ed yelled out, still lacking volume control. "I do not wish to be that close to my sister. She is already scary when I am in the same room as her. I do not wish to be right behind her." Ed cowered a little bit while he looked towards the very front seat at his redheaded sister. It was painfully obvious that he really was afraid of her.

Double D tried to come up with a way to convince Ed, but Eddy was there to defend him. "Just let us sit back here, DD. We'll see you when we get there."

Edd tried to fake a smile at his best friends, "Of course. How silly of me. We're all going to the same destination. I will see you there." After assuring himself, Double D crawled back to his seat and sat down. He looked across to see the seats he had been saving now taken. He sighed and rested his head on the window, looking out at the parking low while waiting for the bus to hurry up and go so he could spend time with his best friends again.

The radio that had barely been audible before was shut off and replaced with an announcement from Sarah as she stood at the front of the bus. "Listen up! This is gonna be a long drive, so sit down, be quiet, and don't wake me up!" The fiery redhead looked directly down the aisle, obviously locking her stare onto Ed. Sarah took her seat and the radio turned back on. Finally, the bus began to move as it drove out of the parking lot. Nazz glanced out at the empty spot next to Double D, feeling sorry for him. But he managed to find himsel entertained by labeling in his mind everything that he'd seen out the window. Edd kept this going for about an hour before he passed out on the window for the rest of the bus ride.

Double D's eyes fluttered open when he heard the sound of the bus coming to a stop.  Had I slept through the entire ride, Edd thought to himself, Oh my. Students stood from their seats and made their ways to the off the bus. When Double D looked out the widow, his face lit up with a toothy grin. Outside the bus was a legitimate winter wonderland. Snow glistened everywhere you looked. People walked around in snow equipment, having the time of their lives. The lodge they were to stay at for the week was very large, made completely out of wood.

"Let's go, DD!" Eddy yelled from the aisle.

Double D smiled at his friends and joined them in the walkway. Edd's skin instantly tingled with goosebumps as soon as he stepped off the bus. Peach Creek's cold was nothing compared to this place's. The three Eds were the last ones off the bu s and the last ones to grab their bags. Double D could barely contain his excitement. As much as he enjoyed school, a trip with his best friends at a beautiful resort seemed equally enjoyable.
