Disclaimer: I do not own the Evil Within series. I honestly am not that big of a horror stuff so I doubt I would have ever made the series in the first place.

(Y/N)'s POV

The smell of coffee fills my nostrils, waking me up from my sleep. With a groan, I wipe my face as I move my other hand to the side of the bed. Not surprising, the sheets are empty, but the warmth of life still lingers. That at least means I haven't been alone for long. Finally opening my eyes with a couple of blinks, I look around the room to see what is going on. Besides myself, the room is empty with not another person in it. Okay, not the best sign. I reach over and pick up the alarm clock, reading that it is now just a few minutes past midnight. Oh boy, coffee at midnight is never a good sign. When my gaze turns to the door, I wince some and quickly close my eyes. In an odd daze, I blink my eyes a couple of times to try and regain my bearings. Lord that light was a bit bright. After blinking some, I look back at the door and see that it is slightly ajar, which explains why so much light was getting into the room. With a bit of a grunt, I throw my legs over the side of the bed and push myself to my feet before looking around for a free shirt, but for some reason, I can't find a shirt. Odd, there's usually one nearby. Oh well, that's not important right now. Heading out of the bedroom, the coffee smell only grows stronger as I get closer to the kitchen which was currently well lit. Thankfully my eyes were already adjusted to the light, so I don't have to wince away when I get into the room. Once in there, I am greeted by the sight of my partner sitting at the kitchen counter with her hands wrapped around a coffee mug. Knowing better, I knock on the wall so that she knows I'm there.

"Hey." My voice is calm so that I don't startle her. Juli turns her head slightly and looks back at me out of the side of her eye.

"Hey." Juli says as I walk up behind her and wrap my arms around her, hugging her from behind. Once she is in my arms, she leans back against my chest as she lowers her hands to rest on the counter top.

"Nightmare?" No answer, just a sigh, "I will take that as a yes. Care to talk about it?"

"Do I ever?" Juli snarks before bringing the mug up and sipping from it.

"No, but sometimes I can get you to talk about the nightmares anyways." She scoffs a bit.

"Yeah and I really appreciate you forcing it out of me each time." From her tone I can tell how tired she is.

"I don't force you to talk to me and don't you always thank me after we talk?" Juli falls silent, her typical response when she doesn't want to admit she was wrong. I stay quiet as I wait for her response, but after hearing nothing for a few minutes, I take a deep breath, "Juli, I'm sorry, I just can't help you if you don't talk to me at all." The former MOBIUS agent stays stubbornly silent for a little bit before she finally sighs, causing her shoulders to fall a bit.

"I... I know you just want to help, (Y/N). It's just... hard to talk about all of it some times." I place a hand on her shoulder as look down. Given her actions, the dream was STEM related.

"STEM?" The former agent nods as she looks at her coffee. After a sigh escapes me I look at her, "I know that what they did to you and what you've had to endure is beyond what most any other person has had to deal with." I try to say calmly, "And I'm not going to add a "but" in there either. All I have to say is that I am here for you. I mean, that is why you came to me in the first place." Juli sets her cup down and then pulls me in for a hug. Given that she doesn't do this often, I'm a bit taken back, but I don't complain and just hug her in return. Juli turns her head to the side and then rests there.

"You're right, (Y/N)." She says after a bit of silence. On the inside, I am excited that my usually stubborn partner is actually opening up to me and admitting I was right about something, but I like to think that on the outside I am quite mature about it. She soon continues, "You are one of the few people that have gone through STEM and made it out alright in the head. I should trust you with more." I shake my head a little at her words.

"What I did was much more of a cake walk compared to your experience, so I don't think I will be able to fully understand what happened to you, but I will try to." She smiles at my words and gives me quick a kiss on the cheek.

"Thank you." She says softly.

"No problem." I say with a smile. I fully mean it too. After all she has gone through and after helping me, this is the least I can do. She then pulls back and I let her go.

"Let's head back to bed." I give her a curious look as she turns the coffee maker off and dumps the black caffeinated liquid down the drain, "I know, but I figured it would be a lot more comfortable chatting there and if you doze off then you'd already be in bed." Nodding my head in agreement I head to the light switch and wait for her to leave before turning off the lights. She does stop once she gets next to me and gives me a look from the corner of her eyes, "Plus if we get bored of talking, there's always option B." She says with a coy smirk before leaving the room. I can't help but chuckle some before I turn out the lights.

I have been meaning to get to this one for a while now but since it's October at the time of posting this and the new Evil Within game just came out, I figured was good of time as any to do this. Hope you liked it and have a great day/night depending on when/where you are reading this.
