Disclaimer: I don't own the Legend of Zelda series. If I did then I would try and put some more world building into the various races and cultures that make up Hyrule.

(Y/N)'s POV

"Once we know for sure where the Gerudo stand in this matter we can not move forward." Various groans sound off from the table as Princess Zelda continues. "Once we know then I would like for us to meet with all of the other people of Hyrule. They like us were affected during the war with Ganon, therefore, they have just as much say in the matter of rebuilding as we do." More groans of protest sound off with one of the "nobles" standing in protest.

"You would have us council with those other races on a matter that they have no right in? Outrageous! First, you allow a bumpkin," he jabs a finger towards me, "like him into the court and now this? What is next your highness? Shall we be expected to allow the Zoras into our homes or the Gorons to lie with our people?" He sneers out the word highness to the point that it sounds more like an insult than it ever should. Just as I take a step forward Princess Zelda gently holds her hand up. After stepping back she clears her throat and responds to the so-called nobleman.

"Sir Malwr I would have to kindly ask you to take a seat and to cease shouting in such a manner otherwise I will have the castle guard or Sir (Y/N) escort you out of the castle and you will no longer have any part in these matters." Begrudgingly he sits back down with a huff. The princess nods and continues, "Now onto your arguments. Sir (Y/N)" eloquently she motions in my direction, "is the one most responsible for winning the war with Ganon and is solely responsible for this newfound communication between the various other races of this land making him the ambassador to said races. That makes his presence here necessary. (Y/N) is also welcomed in the castle as my guest meaning that he is allowed wherever I allow him to be. As his hostess, I ask that any problem that you may have with him you bring to me. Is that understood?" The last bit is not only directed towards him but everyone else in the room who uncomfortable squirm in their seats but otherwise make no move to protest. After waiting the princess continues, "Good. Now onto your other point. For decades the people of Hyrule have been isolated from each other. With us being segregated for so long people have developed prejudice and bias that serves to only widen the gap between us. To help put an end to this we must take steps to show that the various other races of Hyrule are treated with respect and not "the other" or "those people". They are also residents of Hyrule which means that the direction that we take for the land is just as impactful to them as it is to us Hylians." Despite how much I know her highness feels about this subject her voice never raises from the same calm tone that she has used this entire time. The goddesses, however, seem not content with her hiding how she feels for the afternoon sun soon pours through the windows to set her dirty blonde hair ablaze. Even from my position she casts an intimidating stature to the rest of us in the room. Once done she again sits and waits for a moment or two for protest but like before none speak up. "I am glad that is settled." Zelda then glances over at a nearby clock before continuing. "I believe that will be an adequate note to end our discussions for today gentlemen. I am sure you all have other plans and items to attend to and I would not wish to prevent you any longer than I already have. Good day." All thirty men stand up and bow to the princess. After some of them finish saying more personal goodbyes to the princess and surprisingly to myself the room is cleared out except about some remaining guards. Zelda begins to gather and organize her papers. Patiently I wait for her but the princess seems to be a little lost in thought. Before long the princess just stops working. "(Y/N)?"

"Your grace?" Wearily she smiles and shakes her head.

"(Y/N) I have told you that you can just call me Zelda. You have earned that right after all you have done." Coughing I try to continue.

"Sorry about that. What can I do for you, Zelda?"

"Would you mind staying?" Odd.

"Yes, I will." Lightly she smiles before falling back to an expressionless face.

"Captain?" One of the soldiers steps forth and salutes the princess. He acts as if I am not even here.

"Yes, your highness? What can I or my fellow soldiers do?"

"Would you mind stepping out with your soldiers? I would like to talk with (Y/N) in private please." He looks confused at her request but eventually he concedes.

"Attention!" All the guards quickly line up and move out of the room in a single file line. Once the last soldier in line leaves the captain turns back, salutes again, and then shuts the door leaving the princess and I alone. After a minute's time, her highness sighs and slumps her shoulders. Gathering my courage I speak to her.

"Um if I may ask, is something wrong?" Zelda glances my way quickly as she leans back in the smaller version of her throne that she uses for meetings.

"It's nothing really. I'm just... tired I guess. Tired of all these meetings, tired of all this paperwork, and tired of having to endure these nobles who believe that what is best for them is also what is best for their kingdom. It's just taxing." She slides further down in her chair as she finishes and I can see the anguish on her face. Stepping up I lightly place a hand on her shoulder and Zelda looks up at me. Even her beautiful blue eyes look dim with exhaustion.

"I understand where you are coming from Zelda. Especially when it comes to the nobles." Her highness groans frustratedly.

"I am sorry about that. If I had it my way I would not allow nearly as many "nobles"," she sits up a little to put air quotes around the last word, "into these meetings. We barely get anything done with a third of them looking out for themselves, another third being so out of touch with the people that they cannot make proper decisions to actually do their jobs as representatives, and the other third being both at the same time. Frankly, I am surprised some force didn't try to take us over sooner." I try to reassure her.

"Yes but they don't have near as much power as some believe that they do. Sooner rather than later one of them will overstep their bounds and reality will come in to set them straight." Zelda lightly smiles and rests a hand atop of my own.

"You are always so hopeful aren't you." Shrugging I respond.

"Hope and courage can go hand in hand at times."

"Thank you (Y/N). I needed to hear something like that right about now."

"No thanks necessary Zelda. Just trying to be helpful."

"Just accept it (Y/N)."

"Alright." She smiles again.

"Good."

"Princess is this why you wanted to be alone? For us to talk?" She nods and sits back up in the chair.

"Well, that and I was hoping you wouldn't mind rubbing my shoulders for me. All the work has left me stressed and a little tense." My face heats up from her request.

"Well... um, I can do that. I just don't think I would be very good at it." She laughs undoubtedly at my embarrassment. She knew I would react this way. Sly devil.

"Well we can't know until we try now can we?" Smirking she sits in the best position for me to rub her shoulders. Hesitantly I stand behind her and start to massage her shoulders. Zelda almost instantly smiles and hums to herself. "Mmm keep this up and you may do this more often (Y/N)." With her eyes closed a look of bliss soon spreads on her face. Hmm, I think I won't mind.
