Velvet (RWBY) X (Lion Faunus) Reader

Velvet's POV

Okay, Velvet move fast. Don't look around just grab your food and get out of here. If I go fast enough then I can get out of here before-

"Scarlatina!" Oh no. It's Cardin and his team. Why can't they just leave me alone? Turning in the direction of my name I see CRDL making their way towards me like a pack of hungry wolves. I shudder at my little analogy. I stand my ground because I know from past experience that they will not just let me go. Once they reach me Cardin stands in front of me and the others circle around. "Hey, there freak. You trying to ignore us?" I don't answer and just try to shrink into myself. "Oh come now you're breaking our hearts." They all start to pretend to like their feelings are hurt and start teasing me. Then Cardin grabs my top ears and yanks them real hard.

"Ow, that hurts!" Tears start welling up in my eyes as he pulls harder and his teammates just stand and laugh at me like I am some circus freak here for their sole entertainment. Honestly, I can deal with the pain it's the laughter and the mocking and the ridicule that hurts more than any physical pain that they can inflict.

"Come on freak I am talking to you! It's rude to ignore people like this! Maybe I should pull harder to teach you a lesson." Oh no.

"And did you know it's rude to treat a lady like that?" Wait is that...?

(Y/N)'s POV

I place my hand on the shoulder of the arm that Cardin is pulling Velvet's ears with and squeeze down until I hear a loud popping noise. The poor excuse for a huntsman quickly yells in pain and lets go of her ears. When he moves out of the way Velvet falls into me and I catch before she can meet the ground.

"Who the- (Y/N)?" Cardin's voice changes from his threatening tone to that of a child's when their parent catches them doing something wrong. Scanning the others I see they are equally scared of me. As they should be.

"Now this can go one of two ways. One you apologize now then leave immediately after for the nurse's office to get your leader's shoulder checked out or two you could be carried to the nurse's office on a gurney. Make your choice." They all instantly flinch away before profusely apologizing to Velvet for bullying her. "Good. Now go." And just like that team CRDL is gone with the wind. Once they are gone Velvet wraps her arms around me and squeezes me tight. For such a small girl she definitely has some strength hidden away. "Hey, Vel you can stop killing me now." She then looks up at me with her beautiful smile.

"You're back! Why didn't you tell me? I would have waited for you at the docking area." I sheepishly grin and my lion ears droop down a little.

"Yeah I wanted to surprise you. Judging by what I walked in on I assume I arrived at the best time."

"Well, they have been doing this a lot while you were on your mission." She instantly stiffens after saying that. Those assholes are dead. Before I can go after them Velvet hugs me again.

"Velvet..."

"Stop it. What's done is done. You can't change what has happened."

"Yeah but-"

"No. My boyfriend just got back from a multi-week mission and he is not going to get into trouble on his first day back just because of those four." I then wrap my arms around her waist and pull her close to me.

"Yeah but they hurt you and you are worth any punishment that they may give me." She blushes after that.

"Thank you but no I don't want you to get in trouble for my sake." I let out a frustrated sigh. She definitely is my better half.

"Honestly I would have already been kicked out of here if it was not for you." She smiles at my words and then gets up on her toes and tries to kiss me on the cheek. I however move and her kiss lands on my lips. We stay like that for a few minutes before she pulls away and playfully slaps my shoulder.

"Hey! You tricked me!" She tries to sound upset but her efforts are undermined by the smile on her face and the rose in her cheeks.

"Oh? But that smile says you liked my little trick. I may try that again then." She laughs that beautiful laugh. "Alright, Vel let's get going. I got some stuff planned for us to do." She perks up a bit at that.

"Really? What are we doing?"

"Secret." Her ears drop down a little bit.

"Oh come on. Please?"

"Nope. I want it to be a surprise." She tries to pout but I just hold her hand and we walk off to what I have in plan for her.
