Disclaimer: I don't own the Super Mario Series. If I did, then I would have put one or two more kingdoms in Super Mario Odyssey.

(Y/N)'s POV
Pushing the wooden door open, I soon walk into the mayor's office. I'm greeted with the sight of said mayor currently sitting at her desk in a heated call with someone else. I can't quite make out who she is talking to, but I can tell by the expression on her face, she is not having a fun time. Pauline's pale blue eyes look up at me and for a second she softens up, before they drop back down to the papers on her desk and her attention goes back to the phone call. As quietly as I can, I close the door and make my way over to her.
"No Garet, I don't care about how much it costs, I car about making sure everyone can keep their lights on." She leaned back in her chair as she let out a sigh, "Yes, I know that this would be expensive to do, but it's more efficient in power usage and its better for the environment... No! We can't just funnel the waste into another kingdom! Why would we ever do that?" She pauses for a little bit as the other person talks. Once I'm behind the desk, I stop and lean on it as she grows more frustrated, "That's a reason why we need to start using this! The more we use and research this, the more efficient- Because of the reasons I already told you, Garet." She brings her hand up to pinch the bridge of her nose as she lets out another sigh, "Okay look, this is within my power as mayor to do. You can fight me as much as you want, but I'm not budging on this. Now its late and I have someone else I need to meet with before the day is done... Yes... Yes... Alright, and goodbye to you too." Once those words leave her mouth, she quickly hangs the phone up and slams her forehead down on her desk. While she is there, she groans loudly. Looking over my shoulder at her like this, I can't help but chuckle.
"Fun conversation?" She moves her head up to glare at me, before sitting up straight again, "I'm guessing you're getting some blow back from your plan for the city's power?" The mayor gives me a tired nod as she sits in her chair.
"You wouldn't believe." She then goes silent for a little bit before asking, "Tell me (Y/N), what do you think? Am I doing the right thing." With my arms now crossed I just give her a shrug.
"Ehh, I think so. I'm not nearly as well versed on the ins and outs of the situation, but I think you're right." Pauline gives me a small smile as she nods.
"I suppose that's fair. Thank you for your honesty, (Y/N)."
"No problem, though I didn't give much of an opinion." That gets a chuckle from her as we both relax a little bit more, "So who is up next for you to talk to?" Surprisingly enough, she gains a blush to her cheeks.
"Well actually, I may have lied." I'm taken back a little bit when she says that, "Garet was the last person I was going to talk to today, I just used that as an excuse to end the call so I could talk to you."
"Really?" While still blushing, she gives me a nod, "Well in that case." I then move down and grab ahold of the mayor by her waist before hoisting her up onto her desk. Pauline lets out a squeal as this happens, but once she is firmly seated on the modest sized desk, I am able to silence her with a kiss. Slowly, she starts to relax into the kiss as I feel her arms come to rest on my shoulders. I don't really keep the exact time, but after awhile she and I slowly pull away from each other. She keeps her eyes closed as she takes a deep breath before letting it out with a smile. When she sighs this time, its much happier than before. She then opens her pale blue eyes and her smile only grows.
"Cheeky boy." She says as she starts to laugh. When her laugh reaches my ears, I can't help but smile as well.
"Hey, perked you up, didn't it?" Pauline laughs some more while giving me a nod.
"That it definitely did, but we really should save this for later." Despite her words she moves closer to me and gives me another kiss, though this time a little less intense. Once she breaks the kiss, "It would be a bit problematic if we got caught like this."
"Fair enough." Before she could do anything else, I lift her off of the desk and help her back to her feet, "Shall we call it a day, mayor?" Pauline leans closer to be as we stand in her office.
"That sounds good to me." After that we let go of each other and she gathers some of her things. While she works she talks to me, "Anything you have in mind?"
"Let's get your stuff back to your place and then go from there." Right as I finish she picks up her briefcase and walks over to me. She wraps an arm around me while I do the same to her.
"Sounds good to me, (Y/N)." The two of us then make our way out of the office. As we leave, I shut off the lights before shutting and locking the office door.

I really love the New Donk City portion of the game. Granted anyone who played the game probably loves that part of the game too. Pauline and her band performing as you go through the city. God that made me so excited! I can't remember the last time in a game where I was that excited and that happy with a game. It was so awesome. I'm gonna stop fanboying over this despite how much I love it. If I keep doing this the end portion will be crazy long, so I'll cut it off here. Hope you have a great day/night depending on when/where you're reading this.
