I hung my head. No one could have survived that, not with as wounded as Max was.... I thought. I knew the zombie had won, but a very small part of me refused to accept it. I jumped when a hand gently rested on my left shoulder. I looked and saw Max, smiling at me the best he could, his eyes half closed from exhaustion. Reaching up to undo the locks, I saw his white eyes fade back to his dark brown. I gently hugged him as the last cuff was undone. He stood up and limped over to a chest by the wall, using his sword to help keep his balance. Opening it, he tossed me my stuff and I caught it. He tried to pick me up but wasn't strong enough.

"Max, your to weak to do this right now..." I said as he leaned on the wall for support.

"No, no no no, I'm f-fine..." He insisted, standing up, only to fall left onto me. Catching him, I gave him a worried look.

"I know you want to help me but, your the one who's actually hurt..." I told him, a little stricter.

"I s-said I'm f-fi... F-fin...." He passed out, and I gently layed him on the ground, his head in my lap. I looked out the door and saw the torch at the bottom of the hole. Looking at Max, I grabbed him by his arms and tried to drag him to the hole. He was still losing blood as a finally got him there. I looked up the steep wall that I'd need to climb to get Max home. I dragged him up as gently as I counld, but he was fricking heavy for a skinny guy.

About an hour later I had him at the top of the hole, out of breath, then I remembered. One more hurdle, I thought, looking at the ladder. I swallowed hard, but dragged Max to the ladder then looked up. Oh boy, I thought, realizing just how far 45 blocks really was.

5 hard hours later, I had Max at the top of the ladder, having to push him up before me the whole way. I popped my head above ground and saw the three Tubers looking at me.

"W-what?" I managed to get out through my heaving breath.

"Let us help..." Sky said as Rain helped me the last couple steps and he and Benja carried Max to a bed. My eyes rolled back in my skull, and I passed out, right there on the floor next to the ladder. Before I completely lost wakefulness, I felt someone pick me up and lay me on a bed, then my eyes, shut completely.
