Chapter 17 Letter

I'm still shaken up from what happened yesterday, I can't get the image of me stabbing Jasper and his body falling to the ground. I know he was a bad guy and that he was helping Endora but some part of me still felt bad for him. He was still a living being and I took his life away, I have to get over it and accept what happened and just keep going.
I didn't sleep much because I was thinking about Jasper but I did get a little bit of sleep. The sun was up and Shone into my room, I got up slowly and walked over to the window. I looked out into the trees as the sunlight peeked through the leaves, suddenly I'm startled by a knock at the door and Nyx comes in.

"Oh hi you startled me." I said placing my hand on my chest to feel my heart beat.

"Sorry. I just came to tell you that your parents want to talk to you." Nyx explained.

"Great." I said unenthusiastically.

"That didn't sound so excited." Nyx said confused.

"That's because it wasn't." I said grabbing Nyx's hand and pulling her behind me. We make it to my parent's room door, I tell Nyx that she can go and I stand in front of the door by myself. I push open the door and burst in, mom is sitting by a window and dad is sitting at a desk.

"Hello Echo, your mother and I have something we wish to discuss with you." My dad said.

"If it's about controlling my life than I don't want to hear it." I said upset.

"Echo, where did that come from?" My mom said shocked.

"You will not talk to us that way." My dad demanded.

"I have accepted that I am the princess and there are certain things that I have to do, but something I won't do is marry someone I don't love when there is someone I do love and want to marry him." I declared. I waited for my parents to say something but they just looked at me then at each other and then back at me smiling. "Ok now I'm confused, why are smiling?" I asked.

"You finally sound like a ruler." My mother said.

"I don't understand." I said.

"A good ruler doesn't let others tell her what to do. She will do what is best for her kingdom and more important what's best for her." Mom stated.

"So what does that mean." I asked.

"It means that you will make a fine queen someday and that you don't need us to guide you." Dad said.

"So I can marry Jack?" I asked.

"Yes." My mom said smiling.

"Thank you!"I shouted jumping in the air and started to hover.

"Jack has been very loyal for many years and he did in fact bring you back to us so I think it's safe to say he's passed the test." Dad joked. I laughed a little but suddenly felt some pain in my chest causing me to fall to the ground.

"Echo!" My mom shouted rushing over to me. I landed on my knees grabbing at my chest trying to ease the pain but nothing helped it later got so bad that I was having trouble breathing and gasping for air. As fast as it came it disappeared and I caught my breath.

"Are you alright?" Dad asked.

"I think so but I feel strange, like something is wrong." I said standing up and then it came to me, Jack and I share a soul now so what ever he feels I now feel.

"There is something wrong I need to find Jack." I said getting ready to leave but my mom grabbed my wrist.

"Echo I know you are going through some hard things but you know that you can talk to us right. If feels like we haven't seen each other very much since you've returned. All the stuff that happens to you we have to hear from guards." Mom pleaded.
