La Lune

I wished upon the moon last night.
I wonder if you were gazing, too,
And if my eloquence transmitted through,
Relaying my blind, unhindered allegiance to you.

Oh, what a pirate you are,
Sailing around and stealing hearts;
Thievery will land you shipwrecked
If you only take what you know you can get.
As bold and brash as I may be,
I'm as attractive as clouded uncertainty,
Yet my world hinges on
The earnest sweetness of your embrace.
I pray that you might find solace in my
Sullen, ocean-colored eyes.
I don't want you to believe that every tree
Is only as beautiful as its leaves.

The winds sing soft hymns for you,
Gently caressing your cheek in ways I dare not.
The flowers blossom for you,
Blooming in vivid hues to beckon your smile.
The grass sways like ocean waves,
Beckoning to be blessed with your warmest gaze.
The stars wink in glamorous fashion,
Entertaining your dreamer's eyes when light has gone to sleep.

I am the dusk of sunset;
Vibrant for mere moments,
Yet fading to grey as day flees.
Blue skies disinterest you
And you rejoice in winter's wake.
My moon, please allow me
To hold your hand,
Even if my hands may freeze
And I'm left without air to breathe.
