Clary's POV

I am so excited because today is the dance and I can't wait to show Vanessa the dress I got her. I am sure that she will love it! I am not going to the dance but I am really over joyed for her. My nerves are tingling and my body is trembling with excitement.

I get up early and train, then I come back to my room and take a quick shower. When I come out, Vanessa is awake. She also takes her shower while I wait for her. Today the classes end early (at 4:00) and the dance is in the evening. The dance is at 6:00, so I will tell Vanessa about it at 5:00, giving her enough time to get ready.

The day goes by quickly and I'm way to jumpy to focus on anything. Mostly everything entered one ear and got thrown out the other. After the last class the teacher announces the names of all the students who gave their names. They don't say who will dance with who though, that is meant to be a surprise. The teacher says, "... Isabelle Lightwood, Alexander Lightwood, Vanessa Maplecherry and the last name is Clarissa Fairchild."

I am completely stunned, I never put my name. My eyes have widened to the size of golf balls and my jaw has dropped on the ground. I look at the teacher with my eyes nearly popping out of their sockets.

I can't believe it, I just got pranked! Who would do such a thing? I look at Vanessa and see the same look mirrored on her face. I put two and two together and realise we both put each other's names!

Vanessa looks back at me and I see her reach the same realization as me. We return to our room and she immediately says, "You have to go to the dance."

I reply after some thought, "Only if you go."

"Okay." We both smile and hug and she says, "Thank you so much for doing this for me. It really means a lot to me."

"Right back at ya. Okay, now enough of this sentimental talk. We have a dance to get ready for."

She smiles with a gleam in her sapphire blue eyes and says, "And I have the perfect dress for you."
