Day P.O.V.

I walk up to the school with my friends: June, Pascao, Baxter, Kaede, and my brother, Eden. He has a few friends with him too. They are in sixth grade, like him, so we have to walk with them on most days.

"Hi Day." June says. My name is Daniel, but everyone calls me Day. I don't mind. I'd rather be called Day, actually. It's not like no one knows my name, but no one calls me it.

"Hey June. How was your summer?" I say, as carefree as possible.

"Awesome. I went to Spain with my parents and Metias. I've already told you most of this. We saw each other like every day." Metias is her older brother. June, Eden, him, and I used to play together all the time as kids. June and I still hang out and sometimes Eden comes but Metias is in college.

"Oh, yeah. Duh. What about Anden?" I ask. I love June. But she's with Anden. I have to accept that.

"He's fine. Why?"

"I don't know. Anything new with you guys?"

"Nope." She says. "Do you want to come over to my house after school? I'm going to be really bored. You can bring Eden and his girlfriend. Tess I think?"

"Sure. I'll ask Eden later." We then go to our lockers, and head off to our classes, losing Eden and his friends somewhere along the way.

It's lunch time and as we all walk in the cafeteria talking about where we'll sit, I'm just thinking about June. I wish she liked me. I've loved her ever since we were kids and we played together. I remember the night I knew was in love with her.

I was maybe 11, and she wanted to play one on one in basketball. I was going to let her win but decided to win, Since we had been friends so long I knew she wouldn't care. She beat me anyway. She still holds that over my head to this day. She's smart so she knew I tried my best in that game and she thought it was funny that she was still able to beat me.

"Day? Day?" Suddenly I snap out of my flashback sort of state.

"You okay?" June asks laughing.

I nod. "Just remembering that time we played basketball at my aunt's house."

"Oh yeah, your aunt was so nice. She made us cookies. Oh and I creamed you.

"You remember that?" I ask laughing. She's so much more considerate than most of the girls I know. That's part of what made me fall for her.
