June POV

I'm engaged. I'M ENGAGED!

Now for the hard part. I have to tell everyone. I walk into Day's house to see him at the counter. I sit next to him. He kisses my cheek and gets up.

"Do your parents know?" I ask.

"No. Does your mom?"

"What about my dad? Wait a minute. Did you really ask him?"

"Of course I did." He says. "But I have to go. You can tell my mom. I'm going to get some groceries to take back with me at the end of spring break."

"It's only the second day." I say.

"But if I don't do it now I'm going to forget. And I need my goldfish June."

"Okay. Okay."

He walks out the door and it closes lightly behind him. I look at my ring, admiring it.

I hear someone walking in and quickly put my hand in the pocket of my sweatshirt.

Grace walks to the coffee machine and turns it on.

"Hey Grace?" I ask.

"Yeah sweetie?"

"I've been meaning to ask you something."

"What is it? You know you can ask me anything." She says turning around.

"I was wondering... if you'd be willing to share something with me."

"Uh. I guess it just depends what it is but I'm sure I can. What is it?"

"Your last name." Her scream is instantaneous.

"Are you, are you serious?" She asks.
I stand up and walk over toward her.

"Yeah." She grabs my wrist and takes my hand from my pocket. She screams again.

"Yes. We can share last names." She says. She pulls me into a tight hug. "I'd be honored to call you my daughter in law."

"I love you Grace. You are the going to be the best mother in law ever."

"I don't know about that. But I certainly won't be like the mean old ladies they show in movies. I love you too June."

"I have to go tell my mom." I say.

I call Day on the ride to my house.

"Hey." I say. "Did you get your goldfish?"

"Yeah. I'm on my way home."

"No no no, I told your mom. You should tell mine."

"How did my mom react?"

"She screamed. But that's not the point. You have to tell my mom."

"Fine but you're coming with me." Day says.

"Gladly."

"I'll meet you at your house." He says.

"Okay. I love you, bye."

"I love you too." The line goes out.
I walk into my house after slipping my ring into my sweatshirt pocket. I wanted to keep it from my mom for just a little bit. I'll tell her as soon as Day gets here.

My mom walks into the kitchen. "Hi June. I thought you'd be at Day's. Is something wrong?" She asks.

"No. Nothing wrong. He is coming over here in a minute."

"Oh. Okay. Do you want anything for lunch?"

"I guess maybe a sandwich but I can get it for myself." I say walking over to the fridge.

"Okay." My mom says, she starts to leave the room.

"Mom." I call out as the doorbell rings. "Stay here for a minute."

"Okay." She says walking back as I open the door to see Anden.

"Hi June." He says. I quickly put my left hand into my pocket to slip the ring on my finger. I leave it there for now.

"Uh. Hi Anden. What do you want?"

"June did you need something?" My mom asks from the kitchen.

"No it's fine." I say. She walks off.

"I just came here because I wanted to apologize. I was a jerk and an idiot for cheating on you."

"I couldn't agree more. Is there a real reason you came here or do you make a habit of wasting your time?"

"I just wanted to see if there was any chance of us ever being together again." He says. There is a pain in his eyes and it almost makes me not hate him. People change, I suppose.

"Okay." I say folding my hands together. "So first off, is I'd never date someone who cheated on me. Second, I'm not the slightest bit attracted to you. And third I'm engaged." His eyes widen.

"You're... you can't be serious." He says.

"Actually I can." I say holding up my hand momentarily.

I hear a scream from behind me. Is that my mom? I turn around to see her standing there.

"June! Okay I can explain. I was walking through to get a drink of water when I heard the word engaged."

Day's car pulls into the driveway. Perfect timing. He walks up to the house and straight past Anden to stand beside me.

"What is happening?" He asks.

"Well. Long story." I say.

"Maybe I can explain." Anden says. "I came here to see if there was any chance of me ever dating June again." Days fist clenches up and I quickly put my hand in his.

"After my talking to June about it she told me she was engaged and her mom happened to be walking by when she said it."

Day turns toward me. "So what I'm hearing is that I don't have to tell your mom anymore." He says.

"I guess not." I say.

"You can tell my dad." He says. "I'd really appreciate not having an hour lecture, which is fifty minutes longer than your dad's was by the way." I laugh.

"Well I'm going to go." Anden says.

"I think that'd be best." I say.

Anden walks away and Day shuts the door behind him.

"So who's going to be the maid of honor?" My mom asks.

"I don't know. I don't know anything yet. All I know is I'm marrying Daniel Altan Wing and I couldn't be happier about it."

I walk up to Taylor who is sitting on the couch in the living room.

"Hey June. Is something wrong? You never come to talk to me." He says.

"I just wanted to tell you something."

"Okay. What is it?"

"Well. Your son proposed to me yesterday."

"Eden's a bit young, don't you think?"

"Shut up, that's not even funny."

"Whatever. Okay. I already knew that Daniel proposed to you. Mostly because it's the only thing my wife has talked about all day." I laugh. "So when and where's the wedding going to be?"

"I don't know and in a church." He laughs.

I am marrying the man I love. Today is a good day.
