Beginning of Christmas Break June P.O.V.
School's out!!! I walk to my locker and grab all of mythings. Day walks up beside me.
"Hey sweetheart."
"Hey." I say grabbing all of my things. I shove them in my backpack and close my locker.
"What are you doing later?" He asks as we start to walk towards his car.
"Oh. Well Metias is flying in in about an hour. We are probably going to just stay home."
"Did you ever tell your brother?"
"No. But in my defense he hasn't responded to my calls."
"Well. What are we doing for Christmas?" He asks.
"Christmas Eve I'll be with you. Christmas Day nothing and the day after we'll be at my Grandma's."
"Sure."
I love Christmas.
I walk into the house and my parents aren't yet home. They have probably gone to pick up Metias. He went to college in Hawaii for a while but now that he's in grad school he's had to go to California.
I sit around and Watch TV for the next hour.

The yelling at the door is what makes me finally turn the TV off.
I run downstairs. My mom and Metias are arguing.
"I just can't understand this. Why can't you be more like your sister?"My mom asks as I walk into the kitchen.
"Don't drag me into this." I say grabbing a glass of water.
"What am I supposed to tell our relatives? I don't believe this." She says aggravated. Did he get a girl pregnant? If so, why would she have mentioned me? I mean I guess I'm not pregnant but I still don't think that relates to me.
"Why don't you try the truth Mom?" He asks.
"I just. Ugh. Tell June. I'm gone." She says walking outside to where my dad and some other guy are talking on the porch.
"This is exactly why I didn't come to Thanksgiving." He mumbles. "She still took it better than I thought."
"What's wrong?" I ask. "Did you get a girl pregnant?"
"Trust me Junebug, compared to this, she'd be overjoyed if I got a girl pregnant." I laugh. She'd kill me if I got pregnant, seriously. I find it very hard to believe that there's anything she'd be more upset about, considering he's alive and not in jail.
"Just tell me what's up."
"I'm dating someone."
"Oh. Well that's great, I don't know why they'd be so—wait a minute. There was a reason you didn't use the word girlfriend, wasn't there?"
"Yeah Junebug. Yeah." He says.
I hug him. "I'll talk to Mom and Dad." I say. "They may not be the most excited people in the world right now but they'll get over it. They love you. And that's not going to change."
"Thanks June." He says.
I don't know that I can do this. Has he met my parents?
I walk outside with Metias. My parents are both talking to each other quietly while a boy around Metias' age is sitting on our porch swing. Metias sits down next to him.
"I don't approve of this but we still love you Metias. Please don't think that that's what we're saying by not approving. Because we do love you." My Dad says.
