Everything was well, before we stepped out of the mansion.
Heck, I wanted so bad to be out in the field but this is definitely not what I had in mind.
Austin's been using himself as a human-or wolf?-shield everytime we encounter anyone. Overprotective much?
"Austin, what's the point of me even coming out here when I just stand around while you play hopscotch with the Hunters?" I deadpan, as Austin downs another Hunter.
"Which is why you should be in the house," he says. He dodges a punch from a Hunter.
"This was all a ploy? Are you underestimating me? Well, game on Alpha."
I step out of his way and pounced on a nearby Hunter. I punch him in the gut and I manage to disarm him. A deafening sound follows. I never really got used to using a gun. I'm a bit winded, but I manage to straighten myself before more Hunters come at me. They probably don't know me or don't care, as none of them even acknowledged me or hesitated to attack me.
"What the heck?" Austin frowns as I keep using the gun on Hunters.
"Less talk, more fighting!" I call to him as I dodge a flying arrow. Apparently I'm not the only one who enjoys arrows.
"Shift!" I yell to Austin. No way he's going to keep fighting as a human. Most of the were wolves are shifted already.
"What?"
"Shift you stupid idiot!" I knee a Hunter right in his most prized possession.
I hear a ripping and crunching sound as Austin beside me changes into a black wolf. I stand there, amazed by his wolf. His wolf is nearly pure black, except his tummy is white. Just imagine Barney and change his purple coat to black and his green coat to white and turn him into a big wolf. That's how Austin's wolf looks like.
Unfortunately, my gaping session is interrupted by a Hunter shooting an arrow that wizzes past me, hitting no one in particular except another Hunter.
"You've got to be kidding me," I mutter to myself as I face the weakling who didn't even know how to shoot a proper arrow. I knock the girl unconcious and grab the bow along with the quiver of arrows.
It's been long since I've ever held a bow. This bow's not as sleek as mine, and it's a bit rigid, but it'll do. I only don't have an arm guard. Oh truck, who cares about proper equipment?
I hear a growl beside me and I turn just in time to see Austin ripping a Hunter to shreds. I catch sight of the bloodied corpse and I look away, looking for people to test my new bow and arrows.
I see Jace not too far away, surrounded by Hunters. He's in human form and his clothes are tattered and are drenched with his blood.
Blood.
I hate blood. Always have and always will.
But blood also happened to be feeding my body adrenaline. Before I know it I've loaded my arrow and shot it at a Hunter. The Hunter drops dead and attracts the attention of his fellow Hunters. They all turn to me, tearing away their attention from Jace, who's slowly retreating away from them. I catch his eyes and he mouths a thanks while I load my bow again.
Load, release. Dodge occasional bullets, knives, and arrows (I honestly have no idea where I got those reflexes, maybe from the adrenaline pulsing through my veins).
It bacame a routine. Unfortunately the time came when I have no more arrows left. A Hunter storms towards me and I use my bow as a sort-of sword. Unfortunately again, it snaps from the impact and I stumble back.
