-------------------------------

The day was bittersweet. Amber had made it tough but Jeremy made it up. We stayed on the field quite late, talking until I started dozing off. The field was empty by then. After we both exited the football field we headed to our dorms. He softly pecked my forehead before we parted away.

I was giddy due to that kiss that I didn't notice my dorm door was ajar. My feet picked up the pace towards it. Robbery was never expected from I.O.P. It was a shock to see something like this.

As I came near the door I reduced my pace and tip toed towards it, in case the thief got startled and alarmed. I had to catch them red handed. There was no sound or noise coming from inside, I stood next to the door and slowly peeked inside.

There was no one in my eye range. But then my eyes shifted to the floor and someone was lying there. I swiftly moved in and warned, "Stay right where you are!" The person didn't move, obeying my orders.

It was a male figure, in fact a terrifyingly familiar one. I took every step carefully and plopped down next to the person. The person was still. It wasn't until I saw something oozing out below from the figure. My heart skipped a beat and shook me.

It was clearly blood.

My face must have been white, when I discovered that the person was dead and it was someone I knew. It was Ashton.

No sound left my mouth. I was horrified to the core. Before a panic attack took over me I gathered myself and rushed to Jeremy's room. He was the first person who came to me when I acquired safety. I banged on his door forgetting that it might raise an alarm. Thankfully it didn't.

Jeremy let the door open within seconds and examined me with worry. "You look terrified. What happened?" He held my shoulders gently but with an urgency. I opened my mouth but it was a puff of air that left it.

"Calm down." He rubbed my arms in an attempt to sedate my shivering. "You can tell me anything," he said calmly which was so contrast to what actually was going.

"Jer, it's-it's Ashton. He is dead," It made it final when it was said out loud. Jeremy went still and the air was knocked out of him. "He-he-" I swallowed the lump in my throat, "My.... My my room!" I cried.

Jeremy shushed me and asked for a clearer explanation,"How? How do you know? And what's with your room?" He was caging the panic inside because we both could not afford to be traumatic in the situation.

"Come. Come with me." This came out firmer than before. Jeremy was on my heels. He kept asking why were we heading towards my room but I was exhausted to the core for not answering that. When we almost made it to my room my legs braked and I leaned against the wall next to it. I deeply expected it to be some Halloween joke even though it definitely was not October.

But when I peeked in, again I saw Ashton in a pool of his own blood. Jeremy swished inside on the very sight. He went white when he looked at the body. "Oh my god." He mouthed to himself. The temperature of the room dropped by several degrees as if the dead as inflicted an icy chill.

"What should we do?" He inquired as if I had any idea. But he himself answered the question. "We need to inform someone. Like right now!" He clinched his teeth and rushed out.

"Wait!" I cried. He turned towards me and asked what happened. "How can we just tell them? Like there are going to be consequences."

"What consequences?" Jeremy reverted, his eyes trying very hard not to look at the body.

"Jer, it's us. We are the ones who broke rules and ran out. Don't you think they will doubt us?" He looked a little scared after what I said but that was just for a moment. He shook his head and said, "Well no! We haven't done anything Gret. I don't think they will doubt us."

I swallowed a lump in my throat and nodded along. We both left my room and stood outside confused. Where does the staff stay at this our of the day? We both looked at each other sharing the same thought." Maybe on the administrative floor." Jer said and I did what I always do, agree with him.

We went down to the respective floor to find it much more lit than our own. We passed through the headmistress' office and I got goosebumps on me. That room held many memories which shook me till then.

"Hey! What are you doing here?!" A man came out from a door right behind us. He was tall and broad shouldered almost like a bouncer. Jer was calm and collected, nobody can match that quality of his. The guard motioned towards us at a pace that spoke authority.

"We are students of the institute and here to meet with the headmistress." Jer made it clear that we are no intruders. But his next words were not as strong as his frame. " We are here to report a-" He paused enough to gain the courage to say it. "A murder." I was taken aback by how obvious he sounded. Was it a murder? The answer was all over the place.

The guard was no different. He ogled at Jeremy as if he has lost his mind. "What?" He almost laughed. "Please keep your games to yourself. This one's on me, I won't tell Mrs. Filips about this okay? But if you do this again you will be no different than those bastards who live outside the walls." He widened his eyes as he realized that he over-spoke. "Never mind. Just leave, kids." That was a poor attempt at diverting me from the information he just blurted.

For a second I forgot why I was there in the first place. "No! There really is a dead body in Margaret's room. And we know who it is. This matter has to be solved right now!"Jeremy wasn't closing on the anger management pretty well. "We have to talk with the headmistress. This is no game, it's crime. You are security you can come with us to be sure." I still got no idea how Jeremy was able to argue, let alone talk.

I was sealed shut. After seeing something that terrifying I would be silent for days. "Look, I am not allowed to leave this position. I will inform the guards above, they can go and check. But until they reach the crime scene and confirm it I don't want you to leave my sight." We both nodded and he got his walkie-talkie out and reported. He asked me for my dorm number and the floor on which I stayed on.

"Who's body is it?" He questioned.

"Ashton." This time I opened my mouth.

The guard nodded and gave the information to the officer on the other side of the line. "Over." he ended the line. He still seemed suspicious of us so he bombarded us with lots of questions. He asked us everything about the incident.

I responded to as much as I can. "Was there anything wrong between the two of you?" He asked about me and Ashton. This one I needed a moment. It wasn't seriously wrong but Ashton had been anything but cocky to me.

Even if our conversations started fine they always ended at a wrong note. He was arrogant and still managed to be a gentleman. He did help me in picking up some Posnegan anecdotes. But I wasn't sure about our equation.

"No." That's all I said. The guard was done with his inquiry when his walkie talkie buzzed. He picked it up and spoke,"What's the situation?"

"It was a false report. There is no dead body here. Over."
