The more he thought about it, the more stupid he felt.

Cory mentally smacked himself. He had a brain, but apparently he didn't know how to use it.

If Nick and Aphmau had been telling the truth, then why didn't they tell him about a job? Or family?

"It's all coming together... Then that dream..." While he was mumbling to himself, he failed to notice the peering eyes.

Cory looked at the poster that he saw when he first got here in this...place.

"Ignorance is bliss." Stupid propaganda...

Dawn approached him from behind. "I highly recommend you get back inside Cory. With you condition least we would want us for you to catch something."

Cory waved him off. "I'll be fine." He said distractedly.

"It is against my best wishes Cory..." Dawn rebutted.

"To bad. I've got things to do tonight." Cory muttered.

Dawn made some robotic noises, sounding very exasperated. "I have no obligations to get a doctor out here and administer a drug that will put you out for a few hours."

"You let me out a few nights ago!" Cory argued.

"Ah yes. But that was before the incident where you cut off your oxygen supply in your sleep."

Cory mentally cringed at the reminder. "I'll be careful Dawn." He said calmly. "I'll be back in bed before you know it. Then you can do some last minute tests or whatever and I'll be fine but...please? I've been cramped in that hospital room for days and it's been deteriorating my sanity. Back in the wastelands, I was able to walk anywhere anytime and I was not ever stuck in a combined space for as long as-!"

"You are not still on the whole dream again are you?"

    "Not a dream." He mumbled.

Dawn sighed. "I severely hope you are not suffering from Dream-Reality Confusion...but this is what it's sounding like... Never thought the possibility of you having a borderline personality disorder." The robot mused.

"I DO NOT A HAVE A MENTAL ILLNESS!" Cory roared, checks flushed with embarrassment. Some of the pedestrians stopped to turn at the comical scene, but lost interest quickly.

"Please do lower your voice. I would rather not have you with high blood pressure." Dawn stated sternly.

"Mother hen." Cory crossed his arms.

They both stared at each other. A battle of wills. It was quite comical with one showing no outside emotion.

After a while, the robot sighed in defeatl. "You won't be out long?"

"Nope." Cory responded with a pop.

Dawn shook his head. "Fine. Just...be careful. Try to stay away from the gang that all the officers are looking for."

Whoops. Total opposite of tonight's intentions. "I'll try." He lied smoothly.

Life is like a chess game, where you and fate are the players.

The blonde looked like he was care free, but in reality, he was on guard. He had no idea what happened to Jin. Cory  guessed that it had to do with a certain group.

He searches his surroundings as he walks pass the houses. Every corner he turns, everything seems normal. That really unnerves him.

Cory sees families. All having fun. Children playing. Adults chatting. Everyone having a good time. Those smiles. Those dang smiles in the weird makeup makes his stomach churn. It makes his mind send messages to scream somethings not right. The thing that bothers him most; is that he doesn't know why.

Cory scans the crowd, mind not focusing on any faces. Nothing out of the ordinary. He just sees smiles, white makeup, and just cheerful expressions.

    Until he didn't.

His breath hitched. He felt his heart stop.

There, near a clothesline with white sheets hanging, was a man in a hat. Staring directly at him.

It was a blank stare. No emotion visible. Black, soulless eyes, staring directly at him. No clown makeup. No smile.

Suddenly remembering to breath, Cory staggered back. He blinked rapidly, as he started to see black spots covering his vision. A dull, aching pain found it's way to his head and made itself known.

Cory looked at the exact spot again, looking through the fuzziness, but now, the man was gone. As if he was never there.

"Hey wait!" Cory cried out as he ran and tried to see where the strange man has gone.

Unfortunately, it was in vein. There were no traces of the man.

"Why does he feel important?" Cory thought out loud.

"Why does who feel important?" A voice said from behind him.

"Gah!" Cory spun around and angrily yelled, "What the heck was that for?! Are you trying to scar me half to death Nick?!"

Nick laughed as he clutched his stomach. "Sorry buddy! Didn't mean to spook you so much!" His face turned seriously. "But back to me previous question; who did you see?"

"Nothing. Didn't see nothing." Cory dodged the question. "So...what are you do?"

"Don't avoid the question Cor. If it's someone bad I need to know." Nick stated.

"I told you Nick I'm fine! I'm just taking a walk to let go some of the stress." Cory said soothingly. He noticed that Nick's tense shoulders relaxed slightly.

The makeup bearing man sighed. "Okay...but I'm serious on that statement, anyone who looks fishy-"

"Yeah yeah yeah say something to you or Aph or someone." Cory said exasperatedly.

His comrade's smile looked forced. "Well, I beat be going! Have fun on your walk!" He started walking off. "See ya next time!" He said over his shoulder.

Cory waved, and continued to walk straight.

He didn't hear Nick mumble under his breath. "Your behavior and disobedience will not go unpunished Cory. See you soon indeed."

Black night move up to the left.
