"Deep breaths." Cory told himself.
"Cory!"
"Nick was so different from the other one..."
"Cory?!"
After his...episode, he's been hearing voices and having strange dreams.
One was when he went into a strange building where they sold stolen organs on the black market.
Another was with mutant plants and slug creatures.
The doctors have him on this medication that helps. Seriously, he should thank them. Even if they made super drowsy.
He was still weirded out and scared as to why...it happened.
On the outside they said he was chocking himself, but on the inside someone else was choking him.
"Who is it?" He muttered. "Or was."
Cory wanted, no needed, answers. So that he can self assure himself that he isn't or is crazy.
"I hate you!"
"I hate you too!" He screamed.
A doctor poked his head in the room. "Excuse me?"
"Really? Just as a someone comes in..." Cory thought as he groaned. "Nothing."
"Well," the doctor went inside the room, "I would like to let you know that you don't have to worry about billing. The mayor will be taking care of that."
"Really? I have to say thanks."
The doctor nodded. "You should." He leaned on the wall. "First amnesia, now this? You're very unlucky I must say."
His patient laughed someone bitterly. "Yeah. It isn't pleasant."
There was a somewhat comfortable silence, until Cory got creeped out my how the doctor's eyes were always taking shot glances at him. Along with the makeup everyone wears.
"I hope they won't force me to put that on." He mumbled.
"You have visitors Cory." Stated the doctor.
Cory nodded in understanding. "Alright."
"Don't forget to take your medication."
He rolled his eyes. "Yeah yeah dad." He got up, and stretched his arms.
Walking to the window he could feel the slight breeze. It felt the same. Same force, same sound, same nostalgia he gets, same direction...
He'll admit that the last one is a bit strange.
The doctor looked at him sharply. "It's so you don't have seizures in the night. Unless you want to choke yourself to death?"
Cory mirrored his look. "You and the others seem not to concerned about those visions that probably made me have the spaz attack. I'm telling you they mean something."
The other sighed heavily. "Those we're collections of what your self consciousness showed. These shouldn't worry you. You're being paranoid. Ignorance is bliss after-"
The next thing Cory knew he was staring at a huge poster with those exact words all in bold. There were people laughing. So many people happy no matter what. Carefree lives. No worry at all.
It all felt wrong.
He looked at his hands. They were made for survival. Not just living.
Always on the run. Fending for only him and close friends. Having firearms as protection. And just surviving.
So tell him, if all his life has been spent in Summerville. Why did he have such extreme survival instincts?
"-ory." ... "Cory." Screaming. "Cory!"
Someone was shaking his shoulders. Supporting his weight.
"Cory!" Barking. He hears barking.
A collision of unknown sound bombarded him. Some were people shouting his name. Did they have to be so loud? Barking. Gun shots. Roars of animals. Sounds of metal against metal. Others that can't identify. They are all in his ears. In his head.
Cory looked around, everywhere was just blank. Nothing is here. Why can't he remember anything?
It's all clouded. All blank. Everything missing of what made him him. What sets him apart from everyone else.
He blinked, as the face of the doctor came into view. But that didn't matter. He already made up his mind.
Today, he's going to look for the three criminals, and find out what exactly what the mayor have planned.
