PRESENT DAY
CRIES OF VARYING ages blared to the entire open field and the one-on-one match before their eyes made them feel entirely trapped. The sun perched high above the empyrean as the heat gracefully incinerated Evangeline's skin. It was the time again for them to exterminate criminality, but with the place that had a very limited space, making it necessary for Evangeline to minimize her assaults. She was supposed to be at school today, however, when Steve informed herself that Brock Rumlow was trying to steal a biological weapon from a lab in Lagos—she decided to take a day off.
After Tony saved her from the Extremis, he requested her to stay low and persuaded her to go to public school, literally forcing her to live like a normal kid. It worked for two years simultaneously with him hiring a former S.H.I.E.L.D's agent, Bianca Adler, to keep an eye on her. She was okay with everything because it made her feel safer. However, when Bianca informed her about Strucker's illegal human experimentation and Ultron and his robotic troops almost caused a global destruction, Evangeline created a new goal that she also wanted to help the Avengers in keeping the world safe. The brunette girl had a massive strength hidden inside her and she would not waste it all because the last time she did that, she lost all of her prisoner comrades.
Initially, Tony was totally against the idea of Evangeline joining his world, but with the help from Natasha and Bianca who assured him that Evangeline also had the ability to assist the Avengers, Tony eventually agreed. Jillian—who was her personal doctor—actually opposed it as well because, during her overhaul of Evangeline's body, the doctor found an ample noxious ravage inside her. She knew very well that HYDRA and Extremis had impaired various systems in Evangeline's body the moment they captured her, but she still failed to find a way to cover up her labefaction. Even so, Jillian was still doing further examinations until now, but with Evangeline always agreeing to Natasha's invitation to shape up, Jillian suddenly found no more time for it.
Natasha taught her a lot of things in terms of fighting, basic self-defense techniques using the physical parts of her body. She didn't know much about Evangeline's past or what kind of ability she could do—Tony only mentioned that Evangeline was almost the same as Steve, notably the part as a former lab experiment, but she had a godlike power. Tony literally interdicted her to use her powers, unless she was in a crucial situation. And apparently, all the lessons Natasha gave her were completely helpful today.
Evangeline dodged each punch of the unknown man thrown at her as she reached his collar, delivering a knee strike to the stomach. The man groaned, but he recovered quickly and grabbed her by her shoulder—instinctively Evangeline did the same and placed her foot behind his as she instantly pushed him towards the ground. The man came crashing to the ground with a loud thud and swiftly, Evangeline got him in a headlock. However, even in that position, the man managed to mumble something in a foreign language.
