FOR TWO YEARS deadly serenity piled up the small, cramped cell with the darkness became the main magnetism for Evangeline Ryle. The rhythmic breath was the only thing that kept the little girl in control of the sanity that was slowly eroding within her, cryptic voices from outside the place slightly reminding her that she was not entirely alone. The cold chains rimmed both of her wrists for as long as she could remember, in point of fact she had lost count.
The numbness was all she felt each second, minute, hour. And every day the persecution they did seemed averse to find a dull point. At first, the pain was glaringly painful, but gradually it merged with her body until she didn't even have the energy to blink the moment one of them came to shred herself with a wire cord or any object which could cause various types of injuries.
Evangeline's body was literally like a canvas, parched blood, bruises and scratches splattered on her body irregularly, perhaps for common people it would look absolutely disgusting. The scars on her wrists were constantly ripped open by itself due to the bearish friction caused by the rusty chains and then half-healed the next day only for it to rip open again. And her bones were another story. Evangeline could even feel how frail it became whenever it was moved — the side effects of every brutal training held by these crazy human beings.
The shouts from the Colonel who slashed her ears immersed by the fatigue that currently swept over herself. Void eyes staring sharply at the opponent in front of her as well as the thoughts that only fixed to win in order to escape the subsequent torture, however, Evangeline had no luck at the moment. Each fresh injuries in her body stalled her movements as it allowed the Winter Soldier's metal fist to trounce straight into her face, leaving her out of balance and falling to the solid pavement.
Before the little girl could even stand up, Colonel's feet found its way to suppress her body to stay down, making a slight grunt fled out of her lips.
"You lost, Aglauros." Colonel remarked calmly yet frightening, voice dripping out of his mouth like a hellish bane.
Evangeline remained stiff underneath his feet as she bit her lips to hold back the tears since he stepped on the wound they had just sculpted three days ago from the training, but it was undeniable that her body was trembling with fear. "I will not yield."
Seeing her failed attempts to touch the Winter Soldier and noticing how fright still easily colonized herself, the Colonel spat at her before instructed his men to pull her up. "Weakling."
