ALL EVANGELINE COULD conclude was that she screwed things up. Badly. The moment Evangeline and the other Avengers entered the room, Tony's features implied that he agreed with whatever she was thinking. Moreover, not only was Tony waiting for their presence but the Secretary of State as well. Evangeline took a seat at the very end of the table as she glanced at Tony who obviously pretended to ignore her. The brunette girl wouldn't blame him though because she knew she was wrong in this situation. Tony had told her not to interfere, but she insisted on taking part.

"Five years ago, I had a heart attack. I dropped right in the middle of my backswing," Secretary Ross said, demonstrating the way he was golfing. "Turned out it was the best round of my life, because after 13 hours of surgery and a triple bypass. . .I found something 40 years in the Army had never taught me: Perspective."

Either it was just her feelings or not, but Evangeline felt when Secretary Ross said perspective, he locked his gaze on her intently—as if he addressed the word specifically to her. It was understandable though—she was still too young to plunge into this kind of world and she didn't use any perspective in the case of helping people because she always thought it was the right thing to do. Not until she lost control, obviously.

"The world owes the Avengers an unpayable debt. You have fought for us, protected us, risked your lives, but while a great many people see you as heroes, there are some who would prefer the word, vigilantes."

"And what word would you use, Mr. Secretary?" Natasha questioned calmly, a small smile gracing her lips.

"How about dangerous?" Secretary Ross retorted. "What would you call a group of US-based, enhanced individuals. . .who routinely ignore sovereign borders and inflict their will wherever they choose and who, frankly, seem unconcerned about what they leave behind?"

Secretary Ross stepped aside to allow everyone to see the footage on the screen. The first location was in New York. It was an alien invasion she assumed, which she knew was also one of the reasons Evangeline could end up the way she was today. The next was Washington D.C. Evangeline recalled the incident since it was all over the news, however, she was still in the recovery phase, so she couldn't do much about it.

Sokovia came up after. The footage showed how people were scattered around in panic as half of the city was lifted up into the sky, causing massive destruction for the city. And the last one was Lagos. It started with Wanda's power that severely wrecked a building full of local civilians and ended up on a footage of herself who unconsciously expelled her power around herself, resulting in a bunch of innocent civilians' demise. Evangeline abruptly averted her gaze away from the screen, clearly still affecting by her own fatuity that day.
