"ARE YOU MAD at me if I say you look terrible this morning?" Ned questioned bluntly, putting some of the books in his locker.

Evangeline chuckled. "That bad, huh?"

"A little," Ned spoke, closing his locker and turning to face her. "Have you learn something for the quiz later?"

"Last time I remember, yeah," Evangeline answered. "But, I don't know what I learned most of the time."

"I smell a liar." Ned scoffed, starting to walk through the hallway of the school next to her. "A genius always says that, but they get perfect results in the end. Such a traitor."

Evangeline chuckled and patted his head playfully. "Chill, big guy."

They both chatted for a while before taking a different direction. Evangeline walked into the Biology class still in a complete serenity as the brunette girl hung her head low, tightening the books in her grip. Evangeline liked Ned's company, but she wasn't in the mood to start a conversation since the meeting with Secretary Ross and a bit of rebellious demeanor in front of Tony yesterday.

Tony did not confront her after the event, not even taking her home as he always did, but he surely called Bianca to pick her up and make sure Evangeline stayed low profile. No one in Midtown High knew about her identity as one of the Avengers and she had no intention of announcing it, unlike Tony who embraced the bounty in him, Evangeline opted to keep quiet because honestly, her power was something she both enjoyed and dreaded at the same time.

The copy of Sokovia Accords was still neatly placed in her backpack, Bianca said that Tony asked her to read and reflect on her choice again, but Evangeline had made up her mind. She would not sign it, she just couldn't. Not that she chose Steve's side, Evangeline just didn't want to help and protect those who needed her strength with a permission of the government first. Evangeline had been made to be able to do both things, so why stop now?

Of course the Avengers needed boundary in demolishing properties around the city that they protected against the enemies. Yes, a lot of lives were lost because of the impact of the destruction, yet on the other hand, the world still needed the Avengers to protect every innocent people. And frankly, it happened all the time, in order to save the lives of others, one life must be sacrificed.

And it became Evangeline's second nature to zone out over any lesson since Lagos' catastrophe. Everything was too much for her to handle, dividing her time by doing superheroes stuff and school was two contradictory things. She felt like she was a Disney Chanel star all over again, during the day she was a regular high school student, but at night she was someone else. A hero, they described. Sadly, with the power she couldn't even control, Evangeline didn't feel like one.
