I waited on the stairs of the Hokage building contemplating my choices in life. Did I really just agree to become a human weapon of destruction for a village of people I don't know? I barely know the geography of this place, but I have to now fight for this place?
I guess I can't blame anyone but myself. I agreed to it, without thinking things through. When I get in that academy, everyone will be way ahead of me, and I'll be the one holding everyone else back. I'll just be a nuisance to everyone here, and they'll get rid of me, just like the person who drowned me did.
I wrap my arms across my chest and curl myself into a little ball in the corner of a step. I need comforting right now, but there's no one else here with me. And I've been waiting for the Hokage to get someone who can take care of me, and also help me catch up with the other kids in the academy. I only hope they're nice.
"Hey kid," a woman's voice says. I look up to see a tall, slender woman. She's around 50-ish. She has shallow wrinkles around her mouth, but her hair isn't graying a bit. It's raven colored, and scarlet red streaks are highlighted in her hair. Her eyes are forest green, and wears a red dress with a black hooded cloak around her with black heels. She's leaning against a cane with a silver skull handle and is smiling at me.
"Hello," I squeak.
"You must be the child they decided to make me responsible for," she sighed. "Alright. What's your name?"
"Its Iris."
"Okay, Iris. Wait outside while I talk to the Hokage," as she made her way upstairs, she says, "Don't talk to any strangers while you're out there."

Me, being the good child that I am, waiting patiently for her return. After a few minutes, she returned.
"Alright," my new caretaker said as she reappeared. "It's time for us to go. We have a lot to do."
She already started walking faster than me, and I noticed she wasn't even using her cane. That's odd. Why have a cane if you're not going to use it?
I sped up my walking a little to keep up with her. I don't even know her name, come to think of it.
"Excuse me lady," I say. "But you didn't even tell me your name."
"Oh right!" she yelled while tapping her index finger on her forehead. "I'm Aiko. Also known as the Black Widow."
"The Black Widow? Why?"
Aiko's smirk looked quite evil. "Because I'm just as poisonous as one. I make the deadliest poisons that are used in the shinobi world. My products are even used outside the world of the shinobi. And you know what the best part is?"
"What?" I asked, even more curious than before.
"I've made sure I'm immune to all of it. I make the poisons, but I also make an antidote, which I don't sell. I save them for myself. I take the poison, take the antidote, and let my body do the rest."
"T-that's actually possible?"
"Oh, yes dear. It's a troublesome process, that's for sure. But, now my clients can't even try to turn my products against me." She smiled at the last sentence. "I could even teach you my ways."
"Really?" I asked excitedly, clasping my hands in front of me with excitement.
"Of course. But that'll be later lessons. For now, we need to teach you how to fight in this deadly world of ours, and also how to read and write."
I slumped my shoulders and frowned at that reminder. "Oh, right." Oh man, I was so eager to get to the fun stuff.
"Remember, Iris. You have to take things slowly sometimes. Oh, I'm sure you'll have fun learning about ninjutsu. And learning to control your chakra and-"
"What's chakra?"
"Oh my! You don't know what chakra is? This will be more work than I thought!"
