Bells

Even though I was a bad ninja, I was good at playing hide-and-seek. I moved from the previous bush and climbed a somewhat high tree and did my best to hide myself in it. I made sure I had a good view of Kakashi from where I was.

I started trying to think of a plan on how to get a bell. My abilities that I've just started discovering can always come in handy, but I'm still not in complete control over them. There's not many jutsu that I can use to my advantage. My fighting skills suck.

In other words, I'm hopeless. There's no way I could get a bell. Not by myself at least. I could team up, but none of my teammates like me, so that's not even a suggestion.

I hugged the tree while still in thought. I have absolutely no idea how I'm gonna get a bell. Naruto is trying, though, but failing. He's getting his but whooped by Kakashi.

After a few minutes of contemplating what my strategy will be, I finally make a not-so-smart decision. I decide it would be best to try to use my teleportation skills to get a bell. I just have to pay really close attention to where Kakashi is holding the bells. Then I have to focus on transporting myself to that spot, and transport myself somewhere else.

It's harder than it sounds though, because I still don't know how to control it. But it's better than doing nothing.

"Alright, Iris," I whisper to myself. "Focus on the bells. Think of yourself being right next to them and taking one. Concentrate. Concentrate. Concentrate."

My body became light as a feather and I appeared behind Kakashi. I didn't lose focus and quickly grabbed a bell from his back pocket and imagined myself going back to the tree I was in.

My body felt light again, but I didn't end up back in the tree. I opened my eyes and saw the blue water of the lake nearby get closer and closer to me. I realized I was falling. Falling into the water.

The small bell flew out of my hand. The water felt like concrete when it hit my back. I began panicking just like the last time I fell into water. I got flashbacks to when my own mother drowned me in our family pool.

I held my breath, afraid of it getting into my lungs again and having my lungs and chest feel like it's on fire. I flailed my arms and legs around trying to reach the surface. My fingers were able to get  above the water, and I felt something grab onto the tips of my fingers. It was small, but it had a firm grip.

Somehow, the unknown subject slowly pulled me out of the water. I took a large gasp for air and panted heavily. I used my free hand to grab onto the wooden dock and pulled myself up. The small grip on my finger disappeared, and I laid on my stomach while breathing heavily.

A little blue bird hopped a few inches away from my face and stared at me. It was Buddy.

I smiled at the small bird. I was grateful for him saving me, but, how the hell was he able to that? This small bird, who's no more than half a foot, pulled me, a girl who's 4'8, out of the water?

Disregarding those questions I have, I stroke his little head and smile at him. "Thanks, Buddy," I say to him. He hopped a few feet away to the grass and picked at something.

I finally sat up and Buddy flew on my lap, with the bell in its beak. I gasp and take it into my hands. I picked up his body and pressed him against my face.

"Oh thank you, thank you, thank you," I say enthusiastically. He probably doesn't understand anything I'm saying, but I'm just trying to get him to know how much I appreciate him. Resurrecting him was the best thing I've ever done.

I could hear an alarm clock go off a couple yards away. The exercise is finished. I wonder who else got a bell.

I approached my team who were around the stump with the alarm clock and three lunch boxes sitting on the ground. Naruto was tied to the stump, and it doesn't look like Sasuke or Sakura got a bell either, who they'd be really prideful about it. I must be the only one who got a bell.
