The smell of tropical air welcomed him as soon as he stepped out of the plane. It's been exactly 2 years since he left. He felt sorts of feelings. He's now back to the same country where his wife is. The woman who broke his heart. He felt anger, pain and those kinds of emotions. Come on man! It's no time for drama. You came back here to get even. Man up! He told himself in his mind.
When he got all his things he went out of the airport, his friend, Mark, will be the one to pick him up. He heard his phone rang, hurriedly he picked it up. It was Mark.
"Ken! Dude, sorry, traffic e! I'll be there in 10 minutes I guess." Mark said on the other line.
"Traffic? Sabihin mo, lagi ka lang late!" Ken said with a slight laugh.
"Grabe ka naman pare. Sige na, just wait for me there, you know my car." And then the line ended.
He felt irritated because he had to wait for 10 freaking minutes! What? He's going to stand there for so long? He was thinking of taking the taxi instead pero he thought na sayang naman ang effort ng kaibigan.
Surely after 10 minutes a black Mazda 4 stopped in front of him. And came out a man in a white V-neck shirt and jeans. It was Mark.
"Sorry Dude, traffic." He said.
"Shut up. Open the trunk." Ken said. When the trunk was open, he placed his luggages there. And then he went to the passenger seat and off they went.
"So, where are you staying?" His friend asked him.
"I don't know Man, I think I'll just stay at a nearby hotel.' He answered plainly.
"Aren't you gonna go home to your wife?" His friend asked again.
"Pfff. Who are you joking? Damn. I don't even know if she'll still let me in. What if... Nevermind." He said like he was bothered. He didn't finish his last sentence because he thought, what if his wife is already living with that man? He felt a pinch in his heart. But he ignored that feeling. He has no time for those crap.
"Come on Dude, don't you think she deserves to be heard? You two have to talk. You don't even know if it's true." His friend said. Mark has always been like a big brother to them all. By them, it means their circle of friends. He's the mature one. While the other, including Ken are more of like the normal guys.
"What the? There's no more talking. I saw them right before my eyes. There's no denying in that. My gut says it's true." He said as a matter of factly. Pinaninindigan niya ang naging desisyon niya.
"Fine. Whatever you say. Anyway, we'll be having a dinner on Monday. You have to be there. Barkada outing. Welcome home party mo na rin." Mark said. While still looking at the road.
"Monday.. Hmmm. Count me in. I'm planning to rest this weekend anyway, and I have nothing better to do. Where?"
"21 under. The usual." Mark answered him again.
"Okay."
It didn't take them long to get to the hotel where Ken is going to stay. He'll just stay there for a while and maybe go to his new condo by Monday. It's still not yet fully furnished that's why.
He didn't show his friend that he was bothered. 21 under.. 21 under.. He kept repeating in his mind. He can't get it off. The place was memorable for him and maybe her. That's where he and Ana met...
"Hay grabe! Nakakapagod. Masyado nag-enjoy yung mga kids." Ana said with a smile, though tired, she feels good, because she was surrounded by children.
"Ay nako girl. Hanga ako sa patience mo!" Kelly said jokingly.
"Ganun naman e, if it's your passion no matter how hard it is mag-eenjoy ka pa rin." She said while fixing her things.
"Taray! Words of wisdom? Haha. Anyway, night out tayo sa Monday. Just like the old times. You should come ha! The whole barkada's going to be there." Her friend stated.
"How can I say no to that? E minsan lang tayo makompleto. I'll be there. Just text me where."
"Sure thing! Osige na, let's go."
She's now in her car, she's thinking of strolling in the park. She just remembered the date today. And it's not her favorite date. But she's really too tired to go strolling, maybe she'll just go home. Yep. She made up her mind, she'll go home and have some glass of wine. It's been a week since her parents left, which means she's back to her old routine.
Ana just got home. She was so excited! She wanted to tell Ken the good news as soon as possible. So after meeting with Russel. She went straight home. She excitedly opened the door, a very big big smile plastered on her face. She was nervous at the same time. She knows that her husband will be very happy too, she knows how he loves her so much.
When she got a clear view of the house, she saw a huge luggage in the living room. She thought that maybe there's a visitor. So she went upstairs. She was certain Ken's home, his car was outside.
"Ken?" She was looking for her husband, she found him in their room.
"Ken, do we have a visitor? Why is there--" she wasn't able to finish her sentence because she saw her husband carrying a large bag, with all his things in it. He didn't answer his wife, but he just went straight outside the room. Ana felt very nervous, but tried to calm herself down, because as far as she knows, she can't stress herself out, sinundan niya ang asawa.
"Ken! Wait! Where are you going?? Do you have a trip or something?" She asked her husband trying to sound calm.
Ken faced her. "It's none of your business." He stated coldly and the way he looked at her was as cold as ice.
She was taken aback by what he said, what happened to her husband?! He never talked to her like that.
"Ken! Wait! What's going on??!" She panicked, she's still hurt by the way her husband answered her.
"I'm leaving you. That's what's going on." He answered coldly again and without any emotions.
She felt her world shattered by her husband's statement. "What? Why?? Ken, don't do this. Please! Please tell me it's a joke!" She said, tears are forming in her eyes.
"Ana, this is not a joke. I made wrong decision of marrying you. Akala ko I know you well enough! Pero gaya ka rin pala ng iba!" Her husband shouted.
"Wh-what?" She didn't know what to say. How would she? She has no clue what her husband was talking about. She panicked when Ken started heading towards the door. Hinabol niya ang asawa.
"Ken! Ken, please don't do this!! Can't we talk about this? Please!" She pleaded. She was crying already. Ken still didn't listen to her but continued opening the door. Ana hugged her husband trying to stop him. "Ken! Please naman. Don't!" She was having a hard time talking. Pilit inaalis ni Ken ang yakap ng asawa. And he succeeded, pero makulit si Ana kaya niyakap siya nito ulit.
"Ken! No! Please don't leave me. Hindi ko kaya na wala ka. Please!!" She was really crying hard. What would she do without her husband?! Pero nagulat si Ana nung natanggal ni Ken ang yakap niya and tinulak siya. Causing her to fall. Biglang sumakit ang tiyan niya kaya nawala siya sa sarili panandalian. When she was back to her old self, it's too late Ken was gone. She tried to stand but she can't because her stomach was really aching.
"No! No! No! No!!! Keeeen! Pleease! Keeen! No please!" She cried and cried.
"NOOOOOO! KEEEEEEEN!!!"
*BEEEEEEEEEEEEP!*
