Chapter XXII

"Oh, I thought you're asleep. Dinner's ready." He said when he opened the door, he was now wearing his shorts and white shirt, seems like he has already freshend up. She smiled at him.

"Alright." She said and closed the book she was reading and stood up.

"That's the fastest I can think of to cook. Sorry." He said like a little boy trying to get his Mother's sympathy. That was typical Ken, he does that when he think he'll disappoint someone.

"Ano ka ba, it's alright. Sosyal nga e, pasta pa." She joked which made Ken smile.

"Let's eat." He said and so they ate. Honestly speaking, Ken is really such a great cook. Ana doesn't know where he got the skills.

They were already almost finished eating but nobody talked, it was so quiet.

"Ermm. How was your day?" Ana asked, the quietness makes her deaf.

"Tiring, you know, how I go from meeting to meeting, dagdag mo pa yung mga demands that I have to meet. I don't want to disappoint anybody so I have to work extra hard." He said more like nagsusumbong siya.

"You don't gave to overdo it, you know. If you really can't wag mo pilitin. Kasi in the end, ikaw mahihirapan." Ana said, she never knew that he was that busy with his work, although she doesn't know what it is. As long as it's not something illegal, she's fine with it.

"I'd keep that in mind, Ma'am." He said jokingly and chuckled.

"Psh. Ewan ko sa'yo. Pero seriously, don't stress yourself out too much." She said and took a bite of her food.

"Alright. So, how about you, how's your day?" This time it was his turn to ask.

"Oh, it was fun! I only had one student and we did some catching up. Oh how I missed her, she's one of my consistent students before pero antagal niyang nawala, kanina lang siya bumalik. You know who?" She said excitedly, it's true, Ellie was away for almost 3 months.

"You sound so excited. Close talaga kayo ha. I don't know who e." He said while adoring the look on his wife's face. Her eyes were sparkling.

"Tita Ellie!" She exclaimed with a smile. Ken almost dropped his fork.

"You know she's still as pretty as before, you should thank her, atleast you know where you got some of your good looks..." She started babbling, Ken didn't want to hear any of this.

"Stop it." He said almost in a whisper, na parang di narinig ni Ana.

"And you know what, I can't believe I just noticed a while ago, but you have her eyes, it's beautifu--"

"I SAID STOP IT." He said loudly at nanggigigil as he smashed the table, Ana fell quiet.

"I'm sorry, I just got excited." She apologized.

"Well, if you have any more stories of her, you better keep it to yourself because I don't care about her." He said as cold as ice.

"But why? She's your mother, don't you want to know about her--"

"I said I dont care! Bakit ba ang kulit mo? Can't you understand?" He said. Why does he have to be so harsh? She thought.

"I-I just wanted to help you and her."

"Well, I dont need it!" He hissed.

"But atleast tell me what happened." She said as she held his hand, she desperately wanted to help him, she can still feel that he's holding a grudge against his mother, she knows that sooner or later he has to forgive his Mother, or it's him who's going to have a hard time.
