Changsub, Sungjae's best friend and adopted older brother, decides to take a walk along the river near their house. He didn't expect to see someone very familiar, someone with short hair and cute features and someone who should not be holding hands with another boy except for his little brother. He immediately calls the young one.

"Sungjae, are you home?" Changsub says as a form of greeting haste.

Sungjae chuckles. "Well hello to you too Changsub – hyung."

"Don't start shit with me. Don't go anywhere. Wait for me at home. I need to talk to you." Changsub ends the call and strides back to his house.

Sungjae is already lounging at their living room. His hyung sounded angry when he called earlier and he wonders why. Being with his hyung today is a very good distraction anyways. Changsub comes home and sits next to the boy.

"Do you know where Sorim is right now?" Changsub asks.

Sungjae freezes. "Why do you want to know?"

Changsub sighs. "Listen, I'm not sure if I should say anything, but I'm your hyung and I think you deserve to know. I saw Sorim with another guy walking by the riverbank earlier."

Sungjae begins to panic but stays on his poke face. "Oh, she mentioned to me earlier that her cousin came to visit her. Maybe she's just showing her around."

Changsub knows that he's lying and he wants his younger brother to say the truth. "Didn't I tell you to not start shit with me Yook Sungjae? I know your face when you're lying, and that's the face you're doing right now. 'Fess up."

"There's nothing to confess." Sungjae shrugs. "It's nothing hyung." He has to get out of there. "I need to go now hyung. I'm meeting with Sorim."

Sungjae doesn't even let Changsub stop him and gets straight out of their house. He quickly dials the number of his girlfriend.

"Are you still out?" Sungjae asks as soon as she answers.

Sorim answers with a whispering voice. "He's just about to send me home, oppa. Wae?"

"Let's meet by the bridge, Sorim – ah." Sungjae doesn't care if he looks stupid, he just can't stay mad at his girlfriend.

Sorim sighs in content. "Arasseo, oppa. I have to go. I'll see you later."

Sungjae lives alone most of the times because both of their parents work abroad and Changsub works almost 24/7. This gives him and his girlfriend the privacy that they want. But since Changsub is home, he decides to meet at a quiet part of the neighborhood.

"Oppa, wae?" Sorim wraps her arms around the boy as soon as she arrives at his room.

Sungjae wraps his arms at her waist tightly. "Oppa needs to talk to you Sorim – ah."

Of course, Sungjae knows. He knows who was with the girl when Changsub told him earlier. He knows that Sorim, as innocent as she may look, is two – timing him with a college dude for months now. Love made him stupid and blind but he doesn't care. At least he used to not care.

"Changsub – hyung caught you earlier with that Hyunwoo." Sungjae begins. He could feel the girl freeze up. "I told you to be careful when you go out with him, didn't I?"

Sungjae lowers her head and when she looks at him, tears flow out of her eyes non – stop. "Mianhae Sungjae – oppa, Hyunwoo – oppa wanted to see where I live so I had no choice. I thought I was careful enough. I'm so sorry oppa.

Back then, when Sorim would cry to him like this, he would always cave in. he just loves her so damn much it hurts. He's willing to do anything for her. But enough is enough, his heart hurts and he deserves to be happy too, right?

"Sorim – ah, I've always accepted you for what you've been doing." Sungjae begins. "I've always stayed faithful to you despite of you doing the exact opposite. But Sorim, I can't take it anymore."

Sorim looks at him with her big eyes, Sungjae's weakness. "What do you mean by that, oppa?"

"I'm saying, I'm asking you to pick right now. It's him or me. I think I deserve that." Sungjae says with a blank look on his face.

Tears continue to flow on Sorim's face. "You're making me choose? You know I can't do that. I love you both."

"Then I'm sorry Sorim. I can't be with someone I have to share with someone else." Sungjae stands up. "Goodbye Sorim."

Surprised by the sudden turn of events, Sorim runs away from the boy crying her eyes out and leaving Sungjae alone again. The next morning, Sungjae is woken up by a news that he never thought he's receive.

"Sungjae – ah..." Eunkwang, the eldest in their group of friends, holds his shoulder. "We're so sorry."

Sungjae goes confused. "What's wrong, hyung?"

Eunkwang's voice goes serious. "Sorim got into an accident on her way home last night. She didn't make it. She's gone, Sungjae."

Sungjae didn't leave his house after that, not until Sorim' funeral, where everyone is confused as to why another man showed up on her funeral and not Sungjae. He waited until everyone leaves the rainy cemetery. He kneels by her tomb using the rain as way to hide his own tears, sadness and grief.

"Mianhae... Jeongmal mianhae Sorim – ah. It's all my fault." Sungjae cries out. "Mianhae."

Sungjae continues to cry until he has no tears left to shed. He felt the water stop falling on him even though it's still raining. He looks up and sees Changsub covering him with an umbrella.

"I don't want to fall in love again, hyung." Sungjae vow to himself. "I won't ever fall in love again. I don't deserve to be loved by anyone, anymore."
