To say that Sungjae is nervous would be an understatement. He walks towards sooyoung's house and can't seem to ring their doorbell. He takes a deep breath before pushing the button. He hears a buzzing sound coming from it.
"Park residence, who is this?" a woman's voice answers him.
"E-errr... my name is Yook Sungjae, I'm a classmate of Sooyoung's." Sungjae answers through the machine.
Nothing answers him back from the machine so Sungjae decides to wait. A couple of seconds later, Sooyoung opens the gate for him, smiling as if she can't believe he's here.
"I'm so glad you came." Sooyoung leads the way inside the house. "I was a little scared this morning."
"I did say that I'll see you." Sungjae shrugs. "It's not like I have a choice anyway."
Sooyoung sighs sadly. "You're being rude again." The boy freezes. "C'mon, I'll introduce you to my family." They go straight to the living room. "Ya... break that up. You're cringey." She says when they see Chanyeol feeding wendy fruits.Wendy giggles. "I'm sorry you had to see that. Welcome!"
"Annyeonghaseyo, Yook Sungjae-imnida." Sungjae bows and introduces himself.
Sooyoung grabs the boy's hands. "We'll be in my room. Call us if lunch is ready."
"Make sure you leave the door open Sooyoung-ah!" Chanyeol shouts as the two kids sprint towards the girl's room.
Just like what her big brother told her, she leaves the door of her room open. Contrary to what Sungjae expected, sooyoung's room has a very classy look. They are surrounded by cream-colored walls, neatly arranged stuffed dolls on the shelf; a bed on one side and a closet on the other; there are also two tables inside, one is a desk table by the window and other is a small wooden one placed at the center where Sooyoung's books are already there.
"Go on, make yourself comfortable." Sooyoung gestures the boy. "I'll go get some refreshments."
Sungjae sits on the floor next to the wooden table and couldn't help the chuckle the came out of him. "You cooked makchang?" eyeing the tray that she's carrying a pitcher of juice, two glasses and a large bowl of freshly fried makchang.
"I remember you liked them." Sooyoung sits on the floor as well, across the boy. "What do you want to start with?"
Sungjae takes out one of his notebook. "I'm a bit weak in English and I haven't started on this one."
"That's okay, I already finished that one. I can teach you." Sooyoung takes out her notes. "Is that the only homework you haven't done yet?"
Sungjae nods. "I manage to finish the others before Friday. This is the only one I'm stuck with."
Sooyoung nods understandingly. "Okay, don't worry. I'll help you."
"Oh by the way, Sooyoung?" the girl answers with a hum. "I want to apologize for being a huge jerk to you. I have no excuse. I hope you can forgive me."
Sooyoung smiles. "Apology accepted."
Sooyoung's patience in teaching Sungjae is remarkable. Her focus never wavers and is able to use a method that is easy to learn that the boy can't help but feel grateful.
"Sooyoung-ah, Sungjae, lunch is ready." Wendy knocks on the open door."We'll be right down eonnie." Sooyoung answers and stand up.
Sungjae follows the girl's movement. "Hey, is this the wife of Mr. Park that you talked about?"
"I can't believe you remember that." Sooyoung goes surprised. "But yes, that's the one and only girl who holds my airhead big brother's heart."
The table is already set when Sooyoung and Sungjae get to the dining room. Chanyeol is already seated, exchanging loving stares with his wife.
