No more pain

I sat staring at Kara while she slept peacefully. I couldn't stop thinking about my dream. How Kara would be okay, for a while, then Cadmus...

I kept having bursts of energy which made me want to run and never look back. The only thing stopping me was the knowledge that Kara wouldn't be with me if I did.

"Hey..." I heard the love of my life groan, struggling to sit up.

"Kara, slow down. Hey, don't..." I tried to lay her back down but she was already standing up.

"I need to go to work. I can't just sit here and have a pity party." She was getting dressed by the time I got a word in.

"Fine, but Alex is going to be here in an hour, what do I tell her?"

"That I finally feel normal again and I am making use of it."

Alex POV

When I arrived at Kara's apartment, something seemed off. I called out to her but only got Lena's voice back.

"One second!" She yelled and I waited patiently at the door.

"Hi, where is Kara?" I immediately questioned.

"How did you..."

"Because I knew she would be out of here already. I also knew you would try to stop her, and my theory is correct because I see the struggle signs on the coffee table. Wait, they are..."

"No!" She said. "They are from when she collapsed on her way out."

"What?" Anger flowed through my body. "What the hell do you mean 'collapsed'? Where is she now?"

"Relax, she went to Catco."

"She didn't fly, did she?"

"Uhhh..."

"Lena!" I left it at that and walked out. I headed down roughly the same route that I know she uses to fly to Catco. I saw a crowd of people surrounding what looked like a dead body. I stopped the car in the middle of the road and ran over to where my sister was laying on the pavement, eyes wide open and scared.

"Oh, Kara, talk to me, what happened?"

"I don't know, I just... couldn't fly anymore." She took a couple of shaky breaths and sat up. It wasn't until now that I noticed she was wearing her costume.

"Okay, just stay there," I looked up. "Kara!" She stood up and flew away. I mumbled 'dammit' under my breath and walked back over to my car. I sped towards Catco. I arrived there and made my way through the crowds to see her sitting at her desk, in her regular clothes.

"What the hell?" I heard behind me.

"Miss Grant!" Kara said, looking up, she noticed me too. "Alex! Uh..."

"Why are you back at work?" Cat said in her usual edgy tone.

"Because I am okay, why don't people get that?" She stood up, grabbing some paperwork and she headed to for the elevators.

"Kara!" Cat yelled. The way Cat said my sister's name sounded more like 'Keira'. "Go home, I heard that Supergirl fell out of the sky this morning. if you are okay, why did that happen?"

"You know?" I asked her. She nodded and looked back at Kara, who had stopped dead in her tracks when Cat mentioned Supergirl.

"What? Yeah, who are you?"

"Her sister..."

"Adoptive, yeah. Alex, right?" She said, taking a card out of her pocket and handing it to me.
