Kara POV

I woke because of a loud bang. I knew Lena wasn't supposed to be getting home until tomorrow at lunchtime, it couldn't have been her. I lifted my weight out of bed, careful to make slow, quiet movements as not to startle the child I was carrying. I was watching a horror movie with Lena and at one of the jump scares, the baby kicked me in the ribs, breaking one and bruising another.

"Oh, Kara..." I heard Mon-El's eerie voice through the darkness. I couldn't see him but I knew he was here somewhere. His voice was mad, he was crazy. "C'mon, please let me see her. Let me hold her!" He jumped at me and pushed me to the ground. I screamed as he pulled a kryptonite knife out, it was heading straight for my stomach, for my little girl! He made a cut just above where I could feel her head, he then put the knife completely into me. "I am going to take her from you, take everything. You don't deserve to have her in your care, she is mine!" He yelled, twisting the knife, making me scream. I felt her squirming inside me, I was so worried that he had hurt her that I didn't want to let go, I needed to stay awake at least long enough so she won't have to die.

"Kara!" Alex ran in shot Mon-El in the back of the shoulder, he yelled with pain and sped out the window. "Are you okay?" She hugged me, I winced.

"Alex..." I coughed up a small amount of blood. No! Not again!

"No, no, no! I am getting you to the DEO." She called J'onn who arrived at my balcony a moment later, he picked me up and I buried my face into his chest, knowing I was safe in his arms.

Lena POV

I ran into the DEO screaming "Where is she?"

"Everything is fine, Kara and the baby are both fine!" Alex put a hand on my shoulder, reassuring me that my wife was in fact safe. She then led me to a room where Kara was laying on a bed, fast asleep with a cot next to her. I slowly walked up to our baby and picked her up softly. I kept whispering 'I love you' in her ear. She looked happy, peaceful. A tear fell onto my cheek and then rolled down and hit the blanket.

"Lena?" I looked at Kara, she was waking up. I pulled a chair over with my free hand and held Kara's hand. "Is she okay?"

"Yeah, she is as strong as you are. We need a name for her though. I was thinking your mother's name. Or something from Krypton." I smiled as Kara reached for the little girl in my arms. I sat Kara up gently and let her hold her baby. "So, what's her name?"

"Alura! She has my mother's eyes!" Kara was crying and I couldn't tell whether it was joy or something else but I just sat there and comforted her and Alura.

After about ten minutes of us three holding each other, Kara started getting really tired so I picked up Alura, putting her in her cot. I then looked back at Kara who was asleep, probably having another nightmare. I picked up my backpack, I hadn't had time to go home after my flight. I got out my laptop and started on a project that took until that night to complete, then I went to sleep sitting upright on the uncomfortable chair beside Kara.

Alex POV

At the crack of dawn, I walked into the room and saw a brunette sleeping in the chair with one still on my sister's cold hand. I made my way silently and checked Kara's vitals. Everything seemed to be okay, apart from her pulse being dangerously low. I figured we could look at it more when everyone was awake, run some tests maybe.

"Alex?" Lena was awake just as I was leaving. I turned and walked over to her, sitting down in the chair beside her.

"Morning," I whispered.

"She isn't okay, is she? You just checked her pulse and sighed. What is wrong?"

"Probably nothing." I didn't want to worry her, it was probably nothing.

"Nothing isn't nothing when it comes to Kara, what is wrong?"

"Her pulse is just a bit lower than normal, actually, a lot lower."

"That's not good, is it?" She said, turning her wife with a look that I was ashamed to have made possible.

"She will be fine," I added, getting up and walking out the door.

I heard Lena behind me whispering things to Kara in Kryptonian. A tear fell down my cheek and I wiped it away, making sure no-one saw. I ran to the debriefing room where J'onn was standing with all sorts of lead weapons.

"We are going after him. He wants the baby, he is going to get a surprise when we arrive with all the lead we have."

"Good!" I replied and grabbed all the things that were for me to take. I suited up and went for a quick goodbye to my sister, who was trying to stand.

"Alex, help," Lena was struggling to keep Kara down.

"Kara lay down!" I said as if I was giving her orders, which I kind of was. I walked to her and gave her a kiss.

"What are you suiting up for?"

"We have a plan to go after Mon-El. I think J'onn has other things in mind, like killing him, but I will do my best to stop him before Mon-El can get hurt. We think he has been exposed to something similar to Red Kryptonite."

"Lena, can I be alone with Alex for a moment?" Kara sat up again, against Lena and my better judgment, we left it. Lena took Alura out, saying she will be back in five minutes.

"What's up?"

"Alex, I need you to come home safe. When you do, can you look after Alura and Lena for me?"

"What are you talking about? Kara, you're scaring me!" I walked to her side and held her hand, she was ice cold. "Kara? Talk to me..." She was crying.

"Alex, I can barely move without pain." She looked up at me. "I don't know how to live like this, like a cripple."

"It will get better, I promise. Please, just fight!" She smiled and fell asleep. I stayed to make sure she was okay and sure enough, she was. Lena walked back inside and sat back in her chair, still holing Alura. I walked out, still unsure of what Kara was talking about. She was going to be fine, Lena and I would make sure of that.

It wasn't until just after we caught Mon-El and put him in a cell that I realised something Kara had said. She had called herself a 'cripple', what in Rao's name did that mean?
