Kara POV (Three Years Later)
I woke and quickly jumped out of bed, getting ready within seconds. I was excited to do Supergirl things again. I had recently lost my powers by using my laser vision too much and I just got them back yesterday. I hadn't lost my memories for almost a year now and I felt like everything was finally getting back to normal. I looked over at Lena, who was just waking up.
"Kara?" She yelled and freaked out, I just laughed and ran to her, giving her a kiss on the forehead and flying out the window. I felt my cape flow with the wind and my hair fell slightly onto my face as I scoped out the city for someone who was in trouble. I suddenly forgot what I was doing. Why was I flying? How was I flying? That is impossible! A voice burst through my head, startling me and knocking me off balance. I landed on the top of the building nearest to me and listened to the voice talk.
"Hey, Kara. There is an Alien..."
"Who are you? Why are you in my head?"
"It's... Alex..."
"Who's Alex?"
"Kara, I am sending GPS coordinates to your phone, you need to follow them back to the DEO!"
"How do I know I can trust you?"
"You don't, but please!"
"Fine, I'll be there soon." I felt a buzz on my shoulder, it took me a while to figure it out but I took my phone out of my pocket. There was a wedding photo of me and a gorgeous woman getting married as the home screen. I went to the messages app and found 'Alex' as one of the top ones. I quickly looked through previous messages and soon found out we were really close. Is Alex the woman I am married to? I looked at the coordinates and put them on the internet, following the directions to a facility that looked to cost billions of dollars.
"Kara, thank god! What is going on?" I thought I recognised the voice of the woman who ran to me and hugged me.
"Who are you?" I tried my best to remember but I couldn't.
"I'm Alex, your sister!" She looked really worried. "Oh, God! It's happening again. It hasn't happened for a year, the bleeding in your brain stopped ages ago."
"What is happening?" I
"Last time, we just showed you a Supergirl video..." Everything went silent, she was still talking but I couldn't hear her. All I could hear or see was darkness and silence, my mind went blank and as much as I tried to fight, I couldn't and I let go.
Alex POV (A week later)
It was a week since Kara went into a coma and we had no idea how long it was going to be until she woke up. Lena had brought Alura over every day to see her but I didn't think this was going to become a tradition. The little four-year-old didn't understand that her mum wasn't going to wake up, which made it harder. I visited at least twice a day, being that I worked at the facility she was at made it easier. I told her about my day and usually ended with me saying "I know you can't hear me, but I love you."
"Hey Alex, how is Kara?" Lena was holding a little girl's hand and had tear stains on her face.
"What happened? Are you okay?"
"Alura asked when Kara would wake up and... I couldn't answer, I just..."
"I get it..." I gave her a hug and knelt down so I was at eye level with Alura. "Hey, baby."
"Hi!" Her voice sounded so much like Kara's.
"Do you want to see your mum?"
"Yes, please. Aunty Alex?"
"Yeah?"
"When will mummy wake up?"
"Oh, honey! We don't know. We hope it is soon."
"But she needs to wake up! I have my first day of school soon." I looked at the devastated little girl and it broke my heart. She was only four years old but she understood the situation completely. She understood that Kara wouldn't wake up for a very long time, eight years to be exact.
Lena POV (EIGHT YEARS LATER!!!)
"Okay, babes...get everything ready!" I picked up Alura's backpack and handed it to her. She rolled her eyes and gave me the twelve-year-old attitude I had been getting for a few months.
"Mum! I know!"
"You need to pack everything, make sure you have everything!"
"You have told me a billion times!"
"The camp is a long time, you need to make sure everything..." My daughter cut me off with a humorous attitude.
"Is ready, I know! Stop being so dramatic, it is only a week."
"With boys and girls and..."
"Mother..."
"Okay, I will stop... you need to remember that I love you!"
"Let me guess, you are going to tell me that Kara loves me too?"
"Alura Danvers! She is 'Mum' to you!" I raised my voice, not meaning to but I couldn't bear to think that Alura thought Kara didn't love her.
"I'm sorry, I know it is hard for you too."
"Baby, you need to remember that she does love you! No matter if we haven't heard her say it in eight years, we know she loves you with all her heart."
"I love you, mum."
"I love you, baby." She walked out the door carrying her bags and everything she needed, hopefully. I sat on the couch, knowing that the carefree feeling I had was about to go away after a few minutes of not knowing exactly where Alura is. I started being the anxious mother that I usually am and decided I would go see my wife.
I drove to the DEO and sat down next to the woman with a breathing tube down her throat and copious amounts of technology around her.
"Hey, Kara," I said, grabbing her ice-cold hand and explaining the past few days to her. "Alura is at a camp right now, she is going with a group of friends and I can't help but worry about her. I haven't been this far away from her for this long before. I know she isn't worried, she thinks that because she is twelve, she rules the world." I laughed at my joke and found it really hard when she just sat there.
"Lena, what are you doing here? I haven't seen you here in a few days!" Alex was holding a coffee in one hand and a clipboard in another. She had a sad look on her face.
"Have I come at a bad time?"
"No, just, every two days she has a check-up, right?"
"Yeah, Alura and I have been there for heaps of them."
"Well, her vitals went down yesterday..." She trailed off, a tear emerging from her left eye. She took a gulp of her coffee
"But nothing has changed for seven years, she has been in the same coma since Alura was four years old."
"I know, it is strange." Just as Alex said it, the door opened and J'onn called Alex out for a mission. I looked at Kara, I thought I noticed her flinch a little bit, must have been my eyes playing tricks on me.
"Please come back to us!"
