I sighed loudly as I rolled down the window. The police officer came to my window, looking very frustrated.

The officer had deep red hair that was cut just above his ears. He had droopy, sleepy eyes that were as dark as mud. Stubble, the same color as his hair, adorned his chin and upper lip. A badge was pinned onto his dark uniform, reading 'Officer Jensen'. In his hand a notebook and a black pen were held. Ugh. He was gonna give me a ticket.

"What can I do for you officer?" I said, rather cliché.

He frowned and also sighed. He took a look at me and then to sleepy Electra. "Do you have any idea how slow you were going?" He droned.

"Uh, yes officer. It was dark and I couldn't see the sign telling me to go faster. I apologise." I confessed.

Another sigh expelled from his mouth. His breath stunk. "Thank you for being honest, kid. Easy mistake to make." Officer Jensen bleated. "I'm still gonna have to write you a ticket up though, perhaps. And I'll need to see your licence."

I scratched my head and nodded. "That's completely understandable." I began to take out my wallet as he conversed.

"Where are you two kids heading at this hour?" Jensen queried.

Electra chimed in. "We're heading for New Jersey. Bloomfield."

A worried face appeared on the officer. "New Jersey? Seriously? You're in Indiana. You're gonna be driving through the early morning."

"Yeah we know." I grunted, handing him my licence. "But it's fine."

He studied the licence carefully. "Provisional... Mr. Patrick Stumph, Chicago, IL. That's you, yeah?"

I nodded and grimaced as he pronounced my name wrong.

"Alrighty." He concluded, handing me my licence back. "This time I won't book you, but just keep your eye out for signs, okay kid?"

I nodded and smiled. "Yes. Thank you officer."

The first time in our brief encounter, the man showed a slight emotion on his face. A weak smile flickered onto his features. "Great. Now you stay safe, you hear?"

Both Electra and I nodded as the officer walked away. I put the car back into gear and pulled off.

Back on our journey to New Jersey. We still had about two entire states to drive through, and it's almost nine pm. I swear, if I die tonight, Gerard Way had better come to my funeral because I would've died for him.

Electra had fallen asleep once again. Okay, I love the pretty princess, but she was hogging all the sleep.

About thirty minutes later, I saw an upcoming sign.

I looked out at the sign. This sign was large, green and had a couple of lights stuck to it.

It read 'Welcome to Ohio'

Well, we're in Ohio. Lets hope it doesn't rain.

You thought too soon.

Heavy droplets pierced the windscreen as I drove along the highway. I sighed and flicked the switch to activate the windscreen wipers. The rain slapped the car furiously. A deafening clap of thunder echoed in the air, drowning out the radio. Great. A flash of lightning filled the deep sky. Oh how pleasant. Driving through a storm. Another ferocious bark of thunder sounded, setting Electra awake.

"What the fuck was that?!" She exclaimed. I laughed at her confusion.

"Just a thunder storm, babe. Don't worry."
