Monday mornings. Joyous, am I right? No I'm not right. Completely wrong. They suck. Terrible. This was only my second at Glenbrook, second of many. At least I had Electra now. She was so nice on my first day, and she still is (although she is nice in many different ways now, you know what I mean?)
The familiar irritating shriek filled my ears. I groaned and threw my hand out of the warm sheets to hit the steely, black alarm clock. I threw the sheets off me and the cold hit me. It pierced my feet and my ankles, the exposed areas. My gray pajama bottoms were creased from my ever-awkward sleeping position. I sat up on the side of my bed and unlocked the charging iPhone. A screen full of notifications but the one that made me smile most; my good morning text from Electra. Sparky woke up at the crack of dawn every day. She was just a morning person. Me? Well, it's 6:55 and the bus comes at 8:00, not doing too bad.
'Good morning baby doll xo'-Electra
Such a sweetie. She owed me big time for taking her all the way to New Jersey on Saturday. It was really nice for her to meet Gerard. It was really nice for me to meet Gerard. He's so cool, and Bandit.
'Morning sparky x x'
Yes, I put kisses on the end of my texts to her. What? I love her.
I set my phone aside and opened the closet. Hmm, black jeans or black jeans? Black jeans it is. I got them out and threw them onto the bed. I scanned the rack of shirts and found a t-shirt that was white with a black collar part. I grabbed an off-white button-down shirt and a black zip-up hoodie. Yes, layers are good. I threw them aside too and grabbed clean underwear. Gotta be clean.
I took the clean clothes out onto the landing with me. Shower time. Oh, but I hear the shower is already on. Megan. Wow, how Drake and Josh.
I knocked hard on the door and the shower came to a halt. "What?!" Megan screamed at me.
"C'mon flat-chest. I need a shower." I yelled back. Yes, flat-chest is an insult to my little sister.
I heard her huff and grab a few things. The door clicked and she emerged, fully engulfed in steam. "Piss off virgin." She snarled. I just smiled at her incorrect insult. Oh if she only knew.
I dropped my clothes on the wicker basket and pulled off my shirt. Oh look, it's chubby me. I turned on the shower and removed all the rest of my clothes. I then got in.
After ten minutes of washing and singing, I was done with the shower and was dressed.
I looked in the mirror as I buttoned the last few buttons of my shirt. I took a comb to my dried hair and styled it in the usual fashion. I decided to not wear my glasses to school, but I would take them, as Electra had pointed out how much she liked me without them. I pushed a stray hair from my sideburn down and I was almost ready. I think my sideburns are just a way of hiding from everything. Yeah. That's why I had grown them. I started growing them two years ago, and they've got to this. Electra loved them.
A knock had sounded at my door, which was shortly followed by the calm voice of my mother. "Patrick, you're needed downstairs."
Why was I needed? I sighed, put the comb down and unlocked the door. I padded barefoot down the old stairs and into the living room.
A man sat on my couch. His hair frosted gray and his skin worn. He had bags around his eyes. The clothes he wore looked rather expensive: a stainless white shirt, a slim black neck tie, crease-free black pants and shiny black shoes. His dark frosted hair was slicked over to the side using many products. I sighed at him. My dad.
